3757ArticleHoju KoolanderTopher Grace would be a perfect choice for Gilligan, but I think Sally Field doesn't fit the hoity-toity attitude for "Lovey". Maybe someone like Jane Krakowski from Kimmy Schmidt could play a shallow trophy wife to George Hamilton's Thurston Howell III. Feb 13, 2017View
3758ArticleHoju KoolanderLosing the RCA cables seems like a simple fix after a trip to Radio Shack. I think your Aunt just wanted to get those brain rotting video games out of her house and you were the beneficiary! The Nintendo Experience - Part 1Feb 13, 2017View
3760ArticleHoju KoolanderI didn't get into GI Joe until the Serpentor era, but I remember being blown away by how basic and slim these original figures were when I found them in my neighbor buddy's older brother's collection. I thought they were knock off bootlegs or something. But given the awesome layouts in store catalogs I probably would have bought them anyway.Catalog Pages: 1982 Sears Wish Book Featuring G.I. 3771ArticleHoju Koolander@Vaporman87 I like your Z Force idea. They didn't work separately, but with their pilot powers combined... @jkatz Yeah, Heat Vision and Jack is probably the most well known failed TV pilot, but it wasn't laughably bad, just a missed opportunity.Wackiest Failed TV Pilots Part 2Feb 22, 2017View
3772ArticleHoju KoolanderI feel like I learned a lot about Chaka Khan's involvement in the 80s music scene despite the fact that I don't recall any of her actual music. The Greatest Love of All by Whitney Houston has a special place in my heart because my elementary school class performed the song in sign language for some assembly in the late 80s. Being a KISS fan, the one you missed was "I Love It Loud" off the Creatures of the Night album in 1982, but that was during the band's down period, so I don't blame you.Top 80 Songs from the 80s with LOVE in the TitleFeb 22, 2017View
3783ArticleHoju KoolanderAs someone who stopped taking after the Super Nintendo, this series has been a great look at how Nintendo fared with their later systems. I just got the Marvel Disney Infinity game for my kids on the PS3, which I think is like Skylanders and it is really pretty fun. Especially for a guy who was always more into action figures than video games. The Nintendo Experience - Part 2Mar 16, 2017View
3789ArticleHoju KoolanderI always love to hear people's comic book fandom origin stories. I too was caught up in the hype of Superman's death and aftermath, with a deep love of Wizard from cover to cover for many years. I recently picked up the Emerald Dawn run at a used book store and enjoyed it quite a bit, though Kyle Rayner will always be my GL for better or for worse (probably the latter). The Beginning of My Comic Fandom Mar 22, 2017View
3790ArticleHoju KoolanderTo answer your question, I totally mailed away for my Olympic sales kit and managed one sale of Christmas cards to my friend's Mom before giving up my dreams of earning enough points for a rock tumbler. I also ordered some novelty pranks like Rattlesnake Eggs and the mouse trap chewing gum pack. I used to love the Things You Never Knew Existed and Can't Possibly Live Without catalog as well. During the 90s comic book boom Mile High opened a location in Anaheim, CA that was massive. I loved going through that store and even got some "Collectors Item" comics from an in store auction.Halftone WondersMar 22, 2017View
3791ArticleHoju KoolanderI have always had a soft spot for oldies as well and went to a 60's superstars show at a county fair around 1989 where acts like The Monkees, Bobby "Boris" Pickett (The Monster Mash) and The Tokens ( The Lion Sleeps Tonight) among others performed, it was great. I would have loved to see all those Grandmas freaking out at your show.Salute to the '60sMar 22, 2017View
3799ArticleHoju Koolander@oldschool80s Sounds like a cool collector's item. I had no idea they were doing midnight screenings of new films that far back. @jkatz Yeah, I actually got the Dick Tracy NES game recently and man, is it a bummer. I like the varied gameplay and mystery concept, but all the snipers on the rooftop are ridiculous.Antique Store Finds: Dick Tracy MemorabiliaMar 23, 2017View
