I think I speak for almost everyone when I say that we've spent a good chunk of our childhood in front of the TV. Whether it was playing our Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis, watching Saturday Morning cartoons while eating a bowl of cereal, or watching a movie with our family, we spend just as much time in front of the boob tube as kids as we did hanging out with our friends or playing outside. And if there wasn't something on cable, we always had a large collection of VHS tapes and/or DVDs (or even Betamax and laser disc, for that matter) to fall back on. A good chunk of my childhood often involved watching The Magic School Bus, TMNT, Rugrats or Really Wild Animals on video tape.

Nowadays, if we wanted to watch something, most of us would just stream it on Netflix, Hulu or in the case of this article, Disney Plus. And while a good chunk of kids video series are available to watch on those streaming platforms, especially those video series based on shows that were on tv, some still aren't. And today, I wanted to talk about kids videos series that I want to see get added to Disney Plus.

Now the ones that I'm talking about here are ones that or either owned by Disney, or have aired on their stations before. Also, while some of these have aired on TV before, they're also known for being kids video series. Either way, I would love to see them get added. So without further ado, and in no particular order, here are seven kids video series that I want to see get added to Disney Plus.

Bill Nye the Science Guy (1993 - 1999)

 Running for 100 episodes over 6 seasons, Bill Nye the Science Guy, hosted by the title Science Guy himself, took kids on a scientific journey. Each episode/video had Bill Nye, along with the help of the various kid scientists and celebrity guest, covered a different topic. From dinosaurs and the weather to space and electricity, each topic featured interesting facts, fun experiments, funny skits and even a cool music video. I always have great memories of watching Bill Nye in the classroom, learning new stuff. While the chances of this show coming to Disney Plus are extremely low, mainly due to the legal trouble between Bill Nye himself and Disney, I would still love to see this show come to Disney Plus in the near future, so it can hopefully educate a new generation of budding scientists.

Really Wild Animals (1993 - 1996)

 Consisting of 13 videos that were released between 1993 and 1996, Really Wild Animals was a series of kids videos from National Geographic, and was hosted by an animated cartoon globe named Spin, voice by the late Dudley Moore. In each video/episode, Spin would take audiences to different habitats or locations and talk about the many animals that live there, usually through wacky skits and awesome music videos. From the African savannah, to the polar ice caps, to even prehistoric times, each video offered an amazing look into the animal kingdom and teach kids new things that they've never known before about that favorite animals. Even though Disney owns National Geographic now, the distribution rights for Really Wild Animals, along with possibly National Geographic's other kids shows, (including one I'll talk about later), I'm currently owned by Warner Brothers Discovery, and considering what's going on with them right now, let's hope that Disney decides to get the rights back before WBD does something stupid with them.

Amazing Animals, AKA Henry's Amazing Animals (1996-1999)

 Running from 1996 to 1999 for 52 episodes over four seasons, amazing animals, marketed as Henry's amazing animals for home video, was an educational kids show in the same vein as Really Wild Animals, as it taught kids about animals. But unlike Really Wild Animals, which mainly took viewers to different countries and talk about the animals there (prior to season 2), each episode of Amazing Animals had a different theme and talked about animals related to that theme. (Creepy Creatures, Extinct Animals, baby animals, etc.) The show was produced by Dorling Kindersley Vision (the same people behind the Eyewitness video series) and Partridge Films in association with The Disney Channel, which is the main reason why I want to see the show come to Disney Plus. The show was narrated by Tom Clarke-Hill, who is aided by a green lizard named Henry (voice by Eric Myers), who offered some comedy relief. While the chances of this show coming to Disney Plus is very low, probably due to the unlikeliness that DK vision will ever let Disney put their show on their streaming platform, I still think it would make a nice addition.

Disney Sing-Along Songs (1986 - 2006)

 Releasing between 1986 and 2006, Disney sing along songs was a series of kids videos that that had kids singing along with the favorite Disney characters. While some videos featured songs from iconic Disney movies like Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, just to name a few, other videos to replace in real life and featured songs not normally associated with Disney, like Walk the Dinosaur and Five Little Pumpkins. While I believe the earlier episodes of this series might make it on the Disney Plus, the later episodes I'm not so sure of, since some of the songs featured in those later episodes are under copyright. But it would still be pretty cool if they were brought to Disney Plus.

 Safety Smart Science with Bill Nye the Science Guy (2009)

 Coming out in 2009 and lasting only four episodes (at least from what I was able to look up), Safety Smart Science, hosted by Bill Nye the Science Guy was was a joint effort between Disney and Underwriters Laboratories, or UL for short. In each episode, Bill Nye would talk about a different subject, explaining the various safety hazards regarding that subject as well as some cool science facts. From how to handle fire, to how to protect yourself from germs, each episode what teach is you is how to be safe in these situation. I think this series would make a nice addition to Disney plus, alongside the other educational shows. While I doubt it will happened, not just for the same reason as to why Bill Nye's own show will be coming to Disney Plus, but also because I doubt UL will be interested in collaborating with Disney again (unless Bill Nye was brought back), it would still be cool if this show was added.

Timon and Pumbaa: Wild About Safety (2008 - 2013)

 Coming out in 2008 and lasting for eight episodes, wild about safety was another collab between Disney and UL. Unlike Safety Smart Science, This series mainly focused on safety tips. Hosted by Timon and Pumbaa from the Lion king, The Duo would teach the viewers how to stay safe in various situations and locations. From how to stay safe at home, to have to stay safe in the water, the meerkat and warthog would teach kids many safety tips. The series got so popular, that it eventually made its way to Disney Parks. While I don't see this series coming to Disney Plus anytime soon, mainly for the same reason as Safety Smart Science, that being the unlikeliness of Disney and UL working together again, I would still love to see this get added to Disney's streaming service.

Amazing Planet (1998 - 2010)

 Coming out in 1998 (I think) and lasting for 6 episodes, Amazing Planet, like Really Wild Animals, was a show from National Geographic. The show followed three aliens - Rip Rayon, Squeege and Kidogo - and their robotic companion, Orb, who, after accidentally blasting off in their spaceship, explore the planet Earth and one about all the amazing things on it. From sharks, to Mummies, to volcanoes, this show taught kids about this amazing planet of ours. Sadly, the show didn't last as long as Really Wild Animals, and not many people remember it. While I doubt the show will make it to Disney Plus, mainly because of how forgettable it was, as well as Disney currently not owning the distribution rights for it, I would love to see this forgotten show get some more love from a new generation.

And there you have it! Seven classic kids video series I would love to see get added to Disney Plus.
