Songs of Autumn

As summer comes to a close, it gets cooler out, leaves change, kids are going to school, and pumpkin spice everything is in stores. You can tell autumn is here. But how to get in that spirit musically? Well, I have two songs chosen to look at to help with getting into that Autumn mood. So let's go with an eighties classic band with a song that they should have made into a video.

Still They Ride- Journey

Journey is easily one of my favorite bands of the eighties. But I think this song is one of their best songs. But why an autumn song? Not only because of the slow pace, but also the lyrics. People tend to take fall as a way to look back at their summer. This song not only depicts looking back, but also depicts how in the end you will keep going, doesn't matter if you are coming back to your hometown and remembering the glory days of your past or just looking back at the glory days of summer, you'll know of the memories you've made and how things have changed since your younger days. This next song has more meaning to me since I grew up with this song and consider it one of my favorites to this day and for this season.

Viva Forever - Spice Girls

This song holds a nice place in my heart as one that is about lost time from days gone by and how those memories will stay forever in your heart. It could be summer, your childhood, lost friends and family, or loves lost. What makes this a fall song? The slow, relaxing tone the instrumentals are played along by lyrics that are sang in a slow, comforting matter. Like the cool breeze blowing gently in your ear or a whisper from a friend. This song not only feels like autumn, but to me, it feels like nostalgia. The pure bliss of autumn and nostalgia in one song.

To me autumn represents looking back and reflecting. A time to reflect on where you have been, where you are, and where you will go. So look back, reflect, and be proud about how far you came in life and appreciate what you have. Enjoy the great fall weather and remember to live life and live nostalgic.
