Odd TV show episodes #2
By: Benjanime
During the 1990s run of cartoons there was already a fine line between what writers and directors could put into an episode that was deemed appropriate, and others that slipped by the censors. Tiny Toon Adventures had a lot of potential for being such a popular show, especially with Mister Spielberg behind it, following the adventures of an entirely new cast of cartoons inspired by the Looney Tunes. However one episode managed to get the show pulled from a couple of networks a few years after it had its run on Fox Kids, so today I'll be looking at one episode segment that went a little too far...
Tiny Toon Adventures Season 2 - Episode 3 - Elephant Issues/One Beer (1991)
Tiny Toon Adventures Season 2 - Episode 3 - Elephant Issues/One Beer (1991)
Starting off rather late in the episode, One Beer is supposed to be a take on how Buster, Hampton and Plucky show the viewers how dangerous an alcoholic beverage can be as Buster himself tells the other two about it as he asks them what they'd like to drink.
Persuading them into trying it, Buster takes a bottle of beer he found in the fridge as the three walk to a local park, but it isn't an easy task to drink it down as a nearby policeman walks past. After finally finding a decent time to take out the beer Buster pops open the cap but gets a sudden feeling of reluctance in taking a swig of it so he tries to get Hampton and Plucky to take the first drink. They all try it, and a sudden buzz goes into their system.
And with that, a montage happens where they all take turns drinking out of the bottle with a few belches and burps to follow and they later appear to be wearing tattered clothes and shave stubbles. With all the drinking out of the way the three of them walk to the Acme Looniversity school making idiots of themselves when they notice Babs, Shirley and Fifi and try to get their attention.
Childhood ruining moment? You be the judge.
Scaring the girls away with their drunk behavior, Buster, Hampton and Plucky go to a run down street with a donut shop as they steal a police car and drive the car over a hillside and right to their graves. Drifting away as ghosts, Buster asks them if a funny (and possibly better) episode will air tomorrow with Plucky responding with "I hope so".
After the episode briefly aired on Fox Kids, they stopped showing it as the show went on but as for showing reruns on networks like Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, this one episode caused the show to get removed from the time slots and networks entirely. Thankfully though for anyone who hasn't watched the entire episode with the short and has an interest in giving it a look, it's at least on DVD.
Hope y'all enjoyed my second parter of this new series, I'll be around with another article sometime next season. See you then!
