It scared the living daylights out of millions of people. It made you rethink horror. And it paved the way for other horror franchises such as Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street.

I love this movie so much. My father bought me a copy of it when I was about nine and it scared the hell out of me. It instantly became my favorite horror movie.
Funny side story: My family moved to a new house in Texas and for the first time ever my brother and I were going to have our own bedrooms. The first night we moved in I showed my little brother Halloween and Halloween 6. Our last name is Myers, so I convinced him that Michael Myers was our uncle and he'd eventually come for us too. He spent the first six months living in our new house sleeping in my bedroom. He tells the story with pride now and the Halloween franchise is his favorite as well. |

Yup, awesome. One of the many reasons why john carpenter is my favorite director.

I haven't seen many horror films, but this is one I have seen, and really enjoyed.

Here's an interesting piece of info about the movie:
In this scene, there's some smoke that's not supposed to be there. John Carpenter was actually smoking a cigarette while filming. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."
