Well, who saw this coming?

I know I didn't.

Yes, I know I said this on the other Robin Williams' death thread at Retrojunk.

Man... this seems so sudden and jarring to me. I figured Robin would be around for many more years to come. I wish he could have gotten the help he really needed, instead of turning to the Hollywood norm of drugs/alcohol.

Na-nu, na-nu.

i was shocked to hear about it myself, it must be a burden to his family as well as his daughter too. i'll always remember him as batty from ferngully, even if the ol' nostalgia critic ripped that movie to shreds

RIP Rainbow Randolf. As a kid his voice is Iconic and will be that was. As an adult his stand up was amazing and his humor in more adult movies like Death to Smoochy was hilarious. The Genie is finally free.

Truly sad news. We were just watching The Adventures of Baron Munchausen the other day. I totally forgot he was the king of the moon in that movie.

His 2000's movies One Hour Photo and RV were enjoyable.

Good Morning Vietnam and Good Will Hunting are great. I also like One Hour Photo and Bicentennial Man, a lot, they might be my favorites. I never have got around to seeing Dead Poets Society but I want to. I am not interested in seeing Punch Adam or Wet Dreams My Cum.

Oh yeah, and Death to Smoochy was also really really good thanks for the reminder TDitH.
Aladdin, I haven't seen it since it came out.  I'm sure it's still funny for kids but as an adult the overblown, manic impersonations might not appeal to me.  I like that in his standup because it's so raw.  But sanitized for Disney powerhouse in their early revival days, not sure.

On the other hand...who knows?  Only a repeat viewing will tell for sure.

The Genius of Robin Williams in “Aladdin”

The New Yorker wrote :

For me, and for people my age, he was a guide into a more adult world in what was likely his very silliest performance...I was enthralled and giddy but also anxious—I knew that there were jokes I was missing, even as I was laughing.  “Aladdin” was a pop-culture class hidden within the framework of a kids movie...

Cause of death is official... he hung himself with a belt. The poor soul. I wish more could have been done for him.
