Each year that goes by results in some extraordinary thing that I can usually refer to if I ever contemplate what I remember most about a given year.
This year, I would look back at the adoption that my family THOUGHT was going to happen, but did not. This year also marked the year anniversary of my mother's passing. This all seems pretty depressing, but the wealth of less memorable GOOD things that happened easily made it a better than average year in my life.
One of those smaller things actually involves you. Because of you guys, hard workers like Rakesh and Moudy, and yes... a little bit of effort on my part, this site has grown into something much better than when it began it's life. It went from basically a wasteland, to something more. We've gained nearly 140 registered members, thousands upon thousands of forum posts, over 1600 videos, 60+ articles, and more. We've seen our stock rise in the eyes of the information superhighway (does anyone use that term anymore?). From a page rank of 0, to a page rank of 2 (out of 10). From barely 100 unique visitors a month, to over 2,000 this month. So, while a small thing in the grand scheme of things, this is just one of the many good things that have made 2013 a good year.
What will you remember most about 2013?
You'll

Pretty much all the new people and places I've been to. Though there are a couple of people I'd rather forget >_>

My two moving experiences and going to Panama City Beach for the first time in four years. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."

I could also include our two trips to Disney World among the other notable and memorable events. And one event in particular that occurred on our return trip the first time down there, when our tire went flat and we were scouring the nearby countryside for a tire shop. The experience and people we met during that little side-tracking of our journey was very memorable.

Somehow got a tow to a garage where some nice redneck-y pothead types fixed it up. Scary (before getting picked up) and expensive, but definitely a thing that happened that I'll always remember. For me, it will certainly be finally getting to know my friends with the farm. I was vaguely aware of them a couple of years ago, but actually learned their names and participated in many things with them this year. They open their home to everybody and do so much, I'm surprised that this didn't happen sooner. But that's chance. |
