I was at Dairy Queen today, and I ordered the 5 Buck Lunch, and I saw on the Kids' Menu how Dennis the Menace is no longer the spokesman for Dairy Queen. It kind of made me think of depressing this current era is. How something that used to be isn't anymore. What are some things from this crumbling era that you don;t like?

Our extreme dependence on mobile devices for one. I am more than happy that in this day and age, we have the internet. But I really just think our connection to the internet should end at the door of our house.

Also, the originality of films is at an all time low. Games have taken over where movies are failing. Games like Elder Scrolls and the Mass Effect series explore amazing new worlds and create truly fascinating stories, something that used to belong solely to the movie industry (in a visual and auditory sense)

Our knowledge of politics and of political ideology are also at all time lows. There are so many low information voters out there that create this built in block of guaranteed votes for people who don't have the experience or qualities of a good candidate for office (and yes, I'm including the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in that group).

I could go on and on... and probably will as the thoughts come to me.

Another thing that bothers me about this era is how there are pageants where toddler girls dress like hookers. If you've heard of Toddlers & Tiaras, you know what I mean.

Parents, I encourage you not to let your little ones be a part of this fiasco.

All the use of "high fructose corn syrup" to sweeten drinks, instead of good, old fashioned sugar.

We have a local eatery (which, believe it or not, is a very health conscious sort of place... serving pizza with home grown vegetables in a brick oven and such - in a village of 400 people, that's kind of unusual) that I stopped into a few days ago to pick up pizza, and was given a Mexican Coke on the house while I waited. It was much tastier than American Coke, with far fewer ingredients, and cane sugar, instead of HFCS.

Thankfully, soda bottlers are catching on and there is a variety of your favorite sodas that you can get here and there with only sugar.

I didn't know those kind of restaurants were in places like that. I know they are in the trendy parts of LA. And other cities like that.

I don't like how everything is getting "healthed up" It tastes awful!

I'm picturing it right now. Can't say I've tried it, though.

Agreed. This is so apparent with cereals. Nothing tastes like it used to. I mean, some cereals seem to have kept to their original formula, but so many have changed through the years.

Things are getting "healthed up" but not for real. It's the same reason HFCS is in everything now. Sugar got the reputation as bad for you, so it got replaced with corn syrup. Low-fat, sugar-free, diet, natural flavors...means more chemicals. There is nothing awful tasting about home grown vegetables. I would like some truth in advertising. Go to the supermarket and look at the bread, the dairy section, the eggs. How many packages depict a small barn, or a meadow (perhaps with a single animal roaming free in it)? How many of those companies do you think actually have facilities that look like that? That's what I don't like. Everything is supermechanized in our large scale food industry, and other industries are trying to get there as fast as possible. It's all about maximizing profit and minimizing cost, with no regard for anything else. I don't want to pay $2 for a roll of toilet paper....hey, where did my job go?
