For a few years now, Little Nemo and the Nightmare Fiends has been in development, following the source material strongly even to the point of capturing the original art style by creator Winsor McCray. It still needs some time in the oven before it releases, but open beta testing is available on Steam for anyone willing to participate to give feedback.

It looks really cool. Can you still control your enemies when you give em candy?

Yeah Ben, this looks really cool and the music really puts it over the top. Wonder what the timeline for completion looks like, 2027 maybe?

Unfortunately no, the devs probably didn't want to feel like a rehash. I got to playtest an hour of the beta and it's pretty much a standard platformer that's Metroidvania-ish.

It seems they still have quite a lot to do, with it being an indie project we might have to wait even longer as there's very few people involved. In the beta demo I spent at least 40 minutes inside of a dream world, then back in the real world I was inside of Nemo's home, but all there was to do there was check out an unfinished garden sidequest.
