Maybe by now we can all agree that the decisions made during a movie's production can have a real impact of everyone's reputation, even down to the production crew but especially the actors.

There seems to be an opinion at the studio administrative level that movies are an assembly of "plug 'n play" formula pieces. Throw all the elements together and lookie - a movie!

Borderlands is a real slap in the face for the gamer community that is so awful that all audiences feel cheated by the poor decisinmaking surrounding this movie.

If the entertainment industry really doesn't care about the quality of the products they sell - I'm available to oversee the next movie based on a video game, and I'll work for below union-scale wages!

I didn't even know they were making a Borderlands movie. I heard last week about it for the first time and I intially thought it had nothing to do with the games.

@Ben:

To be fair, Kung Fu Panda was quite good.

Another video game movie?

Dang and I still haven't seen the Knuckles series yet!

Suppose you wanted to make a movie that's a lighthearted sci-fi comedy romp, similar to Guardians of the Galaxy but with elements of Tomb Raider seeking treasure inside a vault.

In my opinion, do Not wimp-out by using an existing video game property, instead create a totally new story with new characters.

It's definitely being dragged through the mud. I had no interest because I never played the games. I still don't understand why studios are developing movies like this when you have a property like Mass Effect, ripe for becoming a movie series, and with Henry Cavill interested, for which nothing is being done. Execs are stupid.

Amazing that so many people in positions of authority at major production studios can make such awful decisions - we're witnessing the destruction of an industry and damage to many acting careers.

As a 10 year old in 1967, I watched every episode of "CBS News presents: The 21st Century with Walter Cronkite", every Saturday afternoon. I imagined, along with Mr. Cronkite, what wonders await in the next century.

The collapse of the entertainment industry is something 10 year old me, could never imagine.
