The cast of, "Make Room for Daddy", 1954.

Remember when Carl Reiner died with everyone praising Carl as the man behind The Dick Van Dyke Show and a true comedy genius?

All true, but allow me to add that every comedy genius needs help in the complex world of entertainment. And for all of my life when a show's production team needed help - who ya gonna call?

Danny Thomas was a television fixture in the 1950's starring in several shows but when he became a producer, creating behind the camera, Danny Thomas became an integral part of some of best loved TV shows of the 1960's.

Danny Thomas shared many qualities of successful producer/directors like Lucille Ball, Sheldon Leonard and Aaron Spelling. They all recognized talent and networked with stage handlers and coaches that would bring out the best in everyone involved in a show's creation.

What made The Dick Van Dyke Show so good was the same man behind The Andy Griffith Show - Danny Thomas. So I'm going to repeat again, thanks to Danny Thomas many of my favorite TV shows on the 1960's came to life!

Also, we must thank him for creating The Andy Griffith Show.

"Magic can happen to you."

My age is really starting to show as I've gotten into online shout downs with tubers who think the best TV shows from the 60's were just lucky accidents.

I've had to sing the praises for Danny Thomas a lot, lately. But I also want the praise Lucille Ball as the real believer in Gene Roddenberry's "Star Trek" series proposal. Lucy put in a lot of background networking, contacting everyone she knew in the industry to give Star Trek a chance. NBC passed the first time but said Yes when the proposal came around for a second time.

Sometimes, magic happens when actors move from in front of the cameras to become producers behind the camera.
