Mr Magic

This year, a new Goliath figure was released and I think you Gargoyles fans will be amazed.

Goliath is back in his purple glory!

I was never really into Gargoyles as a kid. I remember seeing a trailer for it on a VHS tape when I was a kid and thinking it was the most badass looking show to ever exist.

Seeing some of it now as an adult, it doesn't seem a lot different from a lot of the other Disney cartoons of that era. A little bit more action oriented, but still pretty tame compared to what a lot of other action oriented cartoos were getting away with at the time.

I always laughed at the huge difference in episodes that were produced for the second season compared to one and three.

Why were so many produced for season 2?

Personally, I enjoyed the animated series more than the 1972 TV movie.

According to Wikipedia once the first season showed early signs of success with both the ratings and the toy sales, Disney wanted to start airing new episodes of weekdays. This led to them ordering a ton of new episodes.

Season 3 got reduced severely it says because the OJ Simpson trial stole the second seasons ratings and some behind the scenes reorganizng with Disney's higher ups led to the shows creator having no friends in any position of power at Disney. The only reason why season 3 even happened at all is because Disney had just bought ABC and needed another children's cartoon to flesh out their Saturday morning program block.

There was plenty to like about "Gargoyles". Complex storylines with fleshed-out characters.
