About ten years ago I read an online poll naming the most popular cartoon characters from around the world.
Near the top of the list was Krtek.
Krtek, (in Czech: Krteček), is a cartoon mole created by Czech animator Zdenek Miler in 1956. The voice of Krtek is Miler's daughter using no decernable words so the character can be understood in all languages.
I know many people who makke fun of foreign cartoons, but I've learned from experience that these unfamiliar characters reveal much about the human spirit and our ability to care about each other.
