Welcome to May 2020 and more of the "shelter in place" responce to the COVID-19 event. I'm spending hours reliving the past and I want to share how cool the 80's were for me when music, television and movies made life absolutely wonderful.

I was watching a movie yesterday called Cocoon and there was this well..."rad" song I wanna share. It's from the guy who did "Maniac"

Makes me wonder how long the appreciation for the "Decade of Decadence" will last. My hope is it lasts forever, but I think we all know that's not likely.

I appreciated the 80s all the way back in the 90s, when it wasn't really popular to do so, and I'll still appreciate it even when the 90s take over as the new decade for nostalgia.

I actually wrote an article for Pop Geeks last year talking about my opinions on the nostalgia cycle. Here's the link:

It sure is awesome to travel through time with you guys!

Just imagine - back in 1985 I had an accounting degree, and no one would hire me. So I worked the closing crew at Burger King. At midnight we closed the drive-through down and cranked-up the restaurant's sound system to favorite radio stations - and the whole crew would dance by the salad bar.

Most of the BK crew were high school juniors and seniors - they never believed how old I was then, LOL!

Now, since I'm in the 80's . . . have you guys ever seen a Starship Berlinetta Camaro?

That's right! For 1984 Chevrolet made a Special Edition of the Berlinetta Camaro called the "Starship".

Woah! I've never heard of that Camaro before. It looks amazing! Very reminiscent of K.I.T.T.

With the introduction of the all new 1982 Camaro and Firebird, GM gave Chevrolet the green light to give the mid-range Camaro the model name, "Berlinetta" a la Ferrari. Chevrolet was jealous of the way Pontiac sold thousands of the Firebird Esprit as a "luxury trim" version. Chevy wanted the Berlinetta to be a "luxury trim" Camaro - aiming to increase sales to women while the guys lusted after the Z/28.

For 1984-1985 a special edition of the Berlinetta called "Starship" was the ultimate luxury Camaro. Starship Berlinettas were always fully loaded with every option in the Camaro catalog, especially the 305 V8.

It's not in the video but the "command pods" on either side of the steering wheel were adjustable! There's a button on the underside of both the left and right-hand pods allowing the driver to slide the controls closer or farther away from the instrument panel.
