1986 - and I was living in a TV Wonderland!

Video game graphics were making real inroads onto broadcast television by 1986 and in some cases game musical themes made appearances as well.

If you love all things 80's take a look at this PBS Special Presentation.

It's called, "The Great Space Race", a four part series by PBS NewsHour producer, Jo Franklin-Trout.
Only Part 4 is available on YouTube, please ignore the copyright disclaimer at the top of the video.

In Honor of the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11's Moon Landing - have a look at the Retro-Future!

LOL!

I actually watched all four parts of this series in the summer of 1986. Boeing was proud to sponsor the series and Jo Franklin-Trout spent a great amount of time talking to designers and engineers bout our future in space.

I really miss the optimism and excitement of future speculations from the 20th century.

Welcome to Labor Day Weekend, 2023.

I'm revisiting the optimistic forecasting from the 1980's. The "Vision of the Future" was always generational but that vision was built on the belief that life, in general, would always become easier!

The 4-part PBS documentary series, "The Great Space Race"- 1986, is a reminder of a spectacular future some people saw as the 20th Century was coming to an  end.
