Superman
Given the recent passing of Stan Lee, I think it's a good time to talk about our favorite Marvel characters. Feel free to list more than one if you can't narrow it down to just one.

Growing up, I was a big Spider-Man fan, thanks largely to his animated series that was airing in the '90s. In fact, it was that cartoon that I credit with introducing me to the world of Marvel and sparking my interest in a lot of other characters that made guest appearances on the show, like Captain America or Iron Man. My very favorite Marvel character, though, would have to be the Black Widow. I've been very into her character ever since Scarlett Johansson first started playing her back in 2010 and am very much looking forward to the announced solo film starring her character.

Here are my top 5 Marvel characters:

1. Iron Man

Iron Man was my first favorite. I was his biggest fan long before he became the A-lister he is now. His comic was the the first of which I ever subscribed to, receiving it monthly in the mail. That was always a joy... seeing an Iron Man comic sitting in the bottom of the mailbox just waiting to be read.

My favorite armor is and always will be the Silver Centurion armor, shown above, and the story arc that culminated in his battle with Iron Monger is my all time favorite.

2. Ghost Rider

I didn't get into Ghost Rider until the early '90s. At that time, Danny Ketch had assumed the role of the Ghost Rider (not Johnny Blaze). His comic run in the early '90s is still a favorite of mine, illustrated by one of my favorite artists, Mark Texeira.

3. Dr. Strange

My interest in Dr. Strange at first stemmed from some of his appearances in Ghost Rider. I liked the idea of a magic user in the Marvel universe, and his storylines had him battling cosmic level threats. I never purchased a Dr. Strange comic, but whenever he appeared in other Marvel stories, my interest was piqued. Now that he is mainstream thanks to the MCU, I have become a big fan.

4. Vision

At some point I had picked up a random copy of The West Coast Avengers...  probably in a supermarket, just looking for anything interesting and new to read. After reading it, I became a fan of Vision. He was very powerful, wise, and a bit of mystery. His story arc "VisionQuest" is still a favorite of mine.

5. Black Knight

I was always a sucker for "knights in shining armor", so when I first saw Black Knight in an issue of The Avengers, I was an instant fan. The guy looks amazing, and his back story draws heavily on the history of actual knights (referring here to the 3rd iteration of Black Knight, Dane Whitman). Though he has no real powers to speak of, his expert fighting skill, mystical weapons, and fun personality make him very appealing. I would love to see him introduced in the MCU at some point.

That's a great list of favorites, Vaporman. I need to get into reading some of the actual comics of some of my favorite Marvel characters. Thus far, I've mostly just watched the various shows and movies and only read the odd comic here and there. I haven't delved into the actual source material nearly as much as I have for Superman and Batman.
