We all have our likes and dislikes and I've noticed a pattern to the movies and television shows I like - they all seem to have that "Twilight Zone Flavor"., and I think you guys know what I'm talking about.

In the Twilight Zone a mirror could be a doorway to a different dimension, or a Fortune Telling Machine in a small diner could be a way for Satan to take your soul.

The original "Jumanji" movie had that twilight zone flavor, reinforced by the awesome "Jumanji: the Animated Series" cartoon. That Jumanji board game was cursed with evil, sometimes tricking people into gameplay with life & death consequences.

The Jumanji board game was a portal to a strange dimension called "the World of Jumanji". Win, and you get to return home - lose and you will be trapped in Jumanji forever. The live action movie and the animated series together showed us a strange world that lies outside the reality that we know and take for granted.

This December, 2017, a new movie will be released by Sony pictures called, "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle", starring Dwayne, 'The Rock', Johnson and Jack Black. I've seen the trailers from June 2017 and all I can say is that my, "Twilight Zone Flavor" is nowhere in the previews.

Or am I just a bitter old man?

I hope the new Jumanji doesn't stink. With The Rock, it's hit or miss.

There's already web chatter about Dwayne Johnson's ability to pick projects that don't advance his career.
Some call it, "the Rock effect".

Dwayne always wants to be family friendly w/ comedy on the side. The real problem is Dwayne Johnson always playing himself in every movie. Dwayne Johnson doesn't understand that his good looks makes him an excellent choice to play a villain -
instead of the good guy.

I could be wrong but "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" may not be the right vehicle for "The Rock".
