When we become adults, we often tell ourselves things were better then than they are now. It happens with movies, TV shows, and even food! It's psychological, I suppose. Quote Disable Sigs "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."

Oh man. This would be an endless list for me. But I'll start with toys and cartoons. Sure, storylines in today's cartoons have come a long way since the '80s, but the characters have not. So often there seems to be very little thought, if any, put into the design and personality of the characters. This applies to the figures associated with those cartoons, and even some that are in no way associated with any TV or film properties. Now, before anyone points out the fact that companies like Mattel and others did an awful lot of tinkering with the same core parts in order to easily create new characters, keep in mind that this STILL goes on today. It's a matter imbuing those characters with an overdose of personality. Compare Orko or Snarf to any of today's "comedy relief sidekicks". They almost exclusively feel "done before" or cookie cutter. You love this signature.

For me, it's McDonald's. Commercials were clever back then, but today's ads don't have the same, pardon the expression, "flavor" as the old ads did.
When I typed "flavor" I was thinking of McDonald's milkshakes. Hehe. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."

Terrestrial radio it's just in a really sad state. Especially rock and alternative radio. It's the same old tired Nirvana, Blink-182, Sublime, Offspring and Green Day songs they've been playing since I was in junior high. Mixed in with some newer bands which are mostly edm.

i don't think it's simply mental i think comics tv shows and movies from the late 80's through the early 2000's were geared toward me and people like me now they are mainly for newer and a more versatile audience so i still enjoy them but i will never relate to the newer shows geared toward a more broad audience like i did the older shows that were made simply to grab viewers like me.
examples comics were mostly for people who were comic fans and the movies and cartoons were made to attract new fans thats why the movies were different the movies were based off of comics now in marvel the movies influence the comics more than the comics influence the movies. cartoons they are some good ones on right now but most of the most popular ones all seem the same to me as far as new animated shows Alvin and the chipmunks and the new ninja turtles are what i mostly watch well and a few toonami shows and rick and morty is one of if not the best thing on tv. i have a lot more to say about this but since this comment is already so huge i think i will make an article about this and go into more detail. 'you think just because a guy reads comics he can't start some sh*t'

One thing that comes to my mind is Nick at Nite. I miss the way that that programming block was during my childhood. I'm not just talking about missing the shows they used to air, either. It seems like they've got fewer shows now than I remember them having in their heyday.

There's more R-rated comedy movies loaded with sex and swearing than there are PG-13 with less.
And they call it entertainment. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."
