Any thoughts on Donkey Kong Country (or its sequels)? Outside of any games that feature Mario or Luigi, the original Donkey Kong Country is probably my favorite video game of all time.

i like diddy's kong quest the most out of the trilogy. interesting level design ideas, and david wise's music just shines.

Diddy's Kong Quest is the better game in the trilogy, yes. But the first Donkey Kong Country game leaves a lot to be appreciated. It's 3D looking models, granted, they were still 2D sprites, was very groundbreaking during the time of it's release. So much so that it brought Sega down to it's knees, as the Genesis was no where near as capable of running a game up to that caliber.

I had a DKC thread, but that was gone with the wind when the server went kaput!

The first one rules the Nintendo kingdom. I never thought I would actually beat it, but the more I kept playing, the better I got. Definitely a fun game, if not THE funnest.

My experience playing it was much the same. It seemed like I got stuck on certain levels for the longest time my first time playing through it, but I mostly breeze right through the whole game when I play it now.

Love this game!

Beware of the mine cart and traffic light levels!

The Donkey Kong Country sequels are very good games, but I'm slightly disappointed that neither of them featured Donkey Kong as a playable character. Does anybody else feel this way?

@echidna:

The factory levels were pretty troublesome too.

i thought it was a great idea to have rareware bust out newly designed donkey kong characters getting some time to shine. though, i could do without kiddy kong lol.

I do think expanding the characters was kind of cool. I might have appreciated the new characters more, though, had Donkey Kong been included as a playable character along with them, even if he was only playable during certain levels or something.

I played the Kellogg's contest many times when I was a kid, hoping I would win a prize, but I always lost.
