Watching this is a pleasure.
So, I was watching 1971's Cat in the Hat special on YouTube today, and I got to thinking "What TV specials do people on Retrodaze enjoy year-round?" Which ones do you can't seem to get enough of?

I always liked the Garfield Special that would show on a week night un the summer time. The one where he, Jon, and Odie went to Hawaii. I looked forward to that each year when it was aired.

Some of my favorite specials ever are the Christmas Charlie Brown Special, Halloween Charlie Brown Special, Santa Claus is Coming To Town, and Peter Cottontail (the Rankin-Bass version).
You love this signature.

The Cat in the Hat TV Special is one of my all-time favorites. This is DePatie-Freleng at its Best, completely different from its Pink Panther franchise with NBC of the 1960's. Notice how the story is tightened slightly from the book for best TV effect. The draw-style of the characters is actually an improvement over the book illustrations, in my opinion.
The best moment is the home clean-up sequence as mom arrives. Excellent tension as the fish voices commentary on mom's progress as the Cat finishes his task Just In Time! He even puts the kids back in their seats at the window. This animated special is so good the live action movie was totally unnecessary. Now here's another Dr. Seuss special that I fell for but is not very popular with most folks. "The Hoober-Bloob Highway" is the awkward name for a cool special that answers the question, "where do babies really come from"? Babies are made in deep space and Mr. Hoober-Bloob preps each newborn with a "preview" tutorial on what to expect from life. Love how common Earthly situations are illustrated by the little boy that has all kinds of grief thrown his way. Many of the songs are good, my favorite is , "Answer Yes or No", and I love the Tweedle Beetles, lol! |

Bugs vs Daffy: Battle of the Music Video Stars
I had a tape of this my mom recorded for me and I would watch it all the time as a kid. I memorized all the dialogue and songs. |

Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation
And the Spring Break special. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."

I was in middle school when one of the most talked about animated specials first aired on TV.
Harry Nilsson's, "THE POINT", from 1971. |

The Mouse and the Motorcycle Something I adored as a kid. Still do to this day. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."
