I've never read the Watchmen comics. I had heard of them in my years collecting, but never was interested in checking them out. I did watch the movie though. It all seemed so joyless and dreary. It wasn't at all "fun". The story was certainly solid, but it just wasn't up my alley. I need a full spectrum of emotion in my superhero films. Even if the trigger for the emotions are poorly executed, I still can understand what the movie is going for, and can be put in that state of mind minus the actual emotional response.

Watchmen is a movie that just sucks the wind out of you and leaves you feeling like the world is crap.

I've always felt the book was way overrated. I enjoyed it for what it was and found the movie to be interesting enough, but I honestly have never understood the hype behind it all. Maybe it is one of those things that you needed to be part of when it was released to truly understand the significance.
