I think that some consider The Craft as a coming of age genre movie. I always liked that movie for some reason. I also found it funny that Faruza Balk played a witch in her youth (The Worst Witch), and in adulthood.

Is "Adventures in Babysitting" considered "coming of age" or "obscure."
I never heard of it until I was in college. Though I assume by starring Elizabeth Shue and others it was a rather popular film in its own day. Also had Anthony Rapp and Vincent D'Onofrio in earlier roles. How do we define "coming of age" anyway? Is The Goonies a CoA film? Is Brideshead Revisited a CoA mini-series? She was in BttF 2 & 3 and I think those "coming of age" (?) films need no introduction. |

kstrom22 wrote :"In genre studies, a coming-of-age story is a genre of literature and film that focuses on the growth of a protagonist from youth to adulthood ("coming of age"). Coming-of-age stories tend to emphasize dialogue or internal monologue over action, and are often set in the past." - Wikipedia.org I think that this does not necessarily mean that we see the protagonist physically go from child to adult, but rather we see childhood from the adult's perspective, or see the child protagonist grow in wisdom or grow emotionally as the film progresses. Basically, he or she learns a thing or two as a result of the events in the movie. You love this signature.

I don't know it's lesser known, but The Outsiders is good.

Gotta go with Angus and My Bodyguard.
Two really fun and heartfelt teen dramas. "Be who you are and say what you feel. Because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." - Dr. Seuss.
