Hey all! I think this year, the wife and I are gonna visit Universal Studios and complete the quest to Harry Potter Land.

I was wondering if you guys had any tips? We'll be going October 9-12th.

Would you recommend any hotels to stay at/avoid?
Would getting skip the line tickets be worth it?
What are the best rides/attractions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for sharing the magic!

I can be of some service here. We were there in March.

We had stayed at a hotel just off route 4 that was close to the entrance of the parks (for the first leg of our trip, pre-Disney). I don't remember the name of it though.

I highly recommend the Encantada Resort around Kissimmee. While that would put you a good fifteen to twenty minutes out from Universal, the accommodations for the price simply can't be beat. For about the price of a standard hotel room, you get a complete condo unit (two floors) with a hot tub, washer and dryer, spacious living and dining areas, and it is located in a very nice area with any store or restaurant you might need. It is also maintained well (not filthy or junky looking).

I would say if you're there in October, don't bother with the "fast pass" tickets. We bought some for our days there and at Islands of Adventure, but they were practically useless since we could pretty much walk right on the rides we liked most (except maybe Transformers).

Also, you HAVE to go to the Magic Kingdom at least ONE day, so you can find our secret dollar bill hidden on Tom Sawyer island and sign it before placing back in its hiding spot!

Thank man, that is a huge help! I'm trying to decide on the hotels, one of the resorts offers "free fast passes," but if it's the low season I might save the difference.

Haha I've been thinking about your infamous dollar! I don't think we'll be make it to Disney this trip, but we might have to do our own family easter egg at Universal!
