41813Old TV Shows & Movies Being Remade. It's funny, my husband was flipping through the channels the other night and that TMZ live or whatever show was on. They were discussing certain shows coming back to tv, remakes and reboots and re-imaginings. The guest caller was saying "yes, it seems ridiculous but trust me Harvey, my generation of 80's and especially 90's kids are hardcore nostalgia freaks and are being marketed towards." he shushed her about that and said yes whatever, every generation is nostalgic, I don't believe for a minute that's what's happening.<div><br></div><div>I think he's wrong. Yes, all generations get nostalgic, but because the 80's and 90's are where the 50s, 60s and 70s were when we were kids (as in OUR shows have been on nick at night now for awhile, instead of I love Lucy, I dream Of Jeannie, etc)and we;re now the adults and many have their own kids. We are in that spot now. We're old enough to call our stuff retro. I think that's why it seems like 90's kids especially are so hardcore. Sometimes that means they won't even bother watching a remake BECAUSE they are such a fan of the original, but often times were that desperate to see this stuff again that we will watch it. I've never seen such a group of&nbsp; braggy people that thought THEIR tv shows, cartoons and snack foods were better than anyone else's like a 90's kid LOL. All the damn surveys on Facebook, the buzzfeed articles, most of the forum posts on Retrojunk,. All about 90's kid nostalgia. I think he underestimates how hungry 90's kids are for their nostalgia and are absolutely marketed towards. Again though, I don't think us 80's and 90's kids are MORE nostalgic Think it's just we're at that point where a lot of us will be approaching middle age before we know it, so we're grasping. I mean i'm 38. I can't believe i'm almost 40.&nbsp;</div>Dalek227Jan 04, 2019View

41811Last Movie You WatchedSplice<div style="font-style: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-style: normal;">I've always been interested in seeing this film since it come out in 2010. I decided to finally watch it since it was recently added to our cable company's on demand service.</div><div style="font-style: normal;"><br></div><div>It's... certainly something. I would say that this was the most awkward and revolting film I ever watched, but I just watched the first two <i>Species</i> films last year and those definitely take the cake in that department. Though I'm kind of torn on which one of these three films have the most awkward sex scene in it.</div><div><br></div><div>There's not much that is really good about this film. It's kind of got an interesting premise for a "science run amok" type story, but it's ruined by everything else. The characters are all unlikable idiots who routinely do stupid things throughout the film that they know is going to bite them in the ass later on. The most unlikable and dumb character is the only one to survive at the end. All the action in the film is saved for the last few minutes of the film, which makes for only a quick and uninspired ending climax.</div><div><br></div><div>Not really a good film. I wasn't really expecting a whole lot but this was a rather big let down.</div><div><br></div><div>1/5</div>Rick Ace RhodesJan 04, 2019View
41810Posting Youtube Videos. When I get to the YouTube video I'm looking for and click share, it isn't giving me an embed option,&nbsp; There is just a dialog box or something that says copy and there is a checkbox that says start at.&nbsp; When I hit tab it does say embed checkbox, but then it only selects the start at checkbox.&nbsp; I don't know if that's because I was selecting from a playlist or what, but that has never happened before.&nbsp; I think YouTube might be glitching.bluegrassbaby86Jan 04, 2019View
41809Posting Youtube Videos.Great breakdown of that shakin. Thanks for that.<div><br></div><div>When we added the "Embed Video" button to the desktop version of the text editor we use in the forum, we eliminated the need to switch to "Source". But you can still do it that way.&nbsp;</div>Vaporman87Jan 04, 2019View

41806Posting Youtube Videos.<div>The method Mr Magic describes creates a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vihnr5dM3PM">clickable link</a>, not an embedded video. <br></div><div><br></div><div>Here is how to post a video here so someone can click it directly.<br></div><div><br></div><div>For MIKEPR I am inclding screenshots. <br></div><div>For bluegrassbaby86&nbsp; I will do my best to include instructions in an accessible manner. I do not have in-depth experience using screen readers, so please let me know if anything is not clear, or if youtube pages do not work for you in the way I describe and I will try to accommodate.</div><div><br></div><div>First, Find the video you want on youtube. Then, in the "share" options, <br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><img src="/images/postImages/1546593565youtbcaptu13.PNG" width="500" height="400"></div><div>(image showing highlight of share option from desktop browser on youtube)</div><br><div><br></div><div>choose &lt;&nbsp; Embed &gt; . <br></div><div><br></div><div><img src="/images/postImages/1546593742youtbcaptu14.PNG" width="200" height="120"><br></div><div>(image showing share options) <br></div><br><div><br></div><div>This will provide you with the raw HTML code that can be used to display a video from youtube, within another website. The code starts with "&lt; iframe width=&nbsp;&nbsp; "&nbsp;&nbsp; .&nbsp; <br></div><div><br></div><img src="/images/postImages/1546594035youtbcaptu15.PNG" width="400" height="300"><div><br></div><div>(image showing video with embed&nbsp; code highlighted)<br></div><div><br></div><div>Copy the full HTML code, including any quotation marks.&nbsp;&nbsp; Whether you are replying to an existing thread or creating a new thread, you will need to toggle source mode so you can use the HTML coding. In either of those scenarios, you should click the button labeled "Show Source". That is what the tooltip says on mouseover, so I think your screen reader can find it. </div><div><br></div><div>Once you have entered source mode, paste the HTML code that you copied from Youtube. <br></div><div><br></div><div>After that, you can toggle back to "Show Rich Text" mode via the same button. <br></div><div><br></div><div>Rich text mode works similar to a typical word processor program. Source mode will not recognize carriage returns or bold / italic / size / type formatting unless you write the HTML into it. You can switch back and forth so that the different methods are available to craft your writing however is most convenient.<br></div><div><br></div><div>Below, I have included an embedded video. If you quote this post and toggle Source Mode, you can see the HTML that I&nbsp; used.<br></div><div><br></div><div><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Vihnr5dM3PM" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0"></iframe> <br></div><div><br></div><div>MIKEPR, bluegrassbaby86, or anyone else: Let me know if you have any questions or trouble doing what you want. <br></div>shakin steakJan 04, 2019View
41805Those of you who skipped school or faked "sick"<p>@Dalek: Sounds like a doozy of a situation. On the one hand, you feel guilty for potentially forcing him to face situations that create anxiety, but on the other, you don’t want him abusing school policy and lying to do so. I hope a reasonable solution presents itself for you</p>Vaporman87Jan 04, 2019View
41804Posting Youtube Videos.<hr><p>@blue: You’re on the right track, but your plugging in the wrong url info in the embed video area. At YouTube, change the shareable link info over to the embed version. Copy that and paste it into the embed video box. The video will show up in the thread, ready to click and watch from within the thread itself</p>Vaporman87Jan 04, 2019View
