44611McDonald's
Oh and McDonald Land stole its whole concept from the cult classic late 1960's Psychedelic Kid's Show H.R. Pufnstufs (about a British kid dressed like a cowboy, his magic talking flute and all sorts of trippy puppets). And which one was better imo? Definitely Pufnstufs.

That being said, McDonald Land had awesome playground equipment back in the 70's and 80's
RetroSnob88Dec 16, 2019View

44609Ghostbusters III

Here's that Happy Hamsters Chipmunk knock-off band I was telling you about. But first, a little history of the knock-off group and what became of them (NSFW):

In 1972, Ross Bagdasarian Sr aka Dave Seville Original (Dude who wrote that Witch Doctor Ooh Ooh Ah Ah Ee Ee Tang Tang Jing Jae Walla Walla Bing Boo song if y'all remember that) died of a heart attack and with him went his franchise Alvin and/or The Chipmunks. Fast forward 4 years later when a former tv child actor by the name of Bill Mummy (best remembered as TV's Little Danger Will Robinson on the cult 1960's Sci-fi show Lost in Space Original) forms an Avant Rock Comedy band called Barnes and Barnes and writes a song called Fish Heads. It gets picked up for airplay on the comedy music radio program Dr Demento and gains quite a cult following.

In 1980, Fish Heads was re-recorded with new lyrics and featured a chipmunk like voice for the chorus. This version is not only well known but started the whole Alvin and the Chipmunks are back rumour that was later confirmed BS by Ross Bagdasarian Jr whom after years of refusing to follow in his father's footsteps (because he respected his dad and felt his franchise was his alone) finally gave in to peer pressure to do so. Later that year, Chipmunk Punk was recorded and released. Being the first official Chipmunk album since Ross Sr was alive, this album consisted of covers of New Wave and Alternative Radio Rock songs that were major at the time (basically songs like Refugee by Tom Petty Free Fallin' and Debbie Harry Blondie's Call Me). 2 years later, an animated Christmas special of The Chipmunks was released, this time featuring animation from the legendary Chuck Jones. Fast forward 1 year later when Ruby Spears Productions makes a new Chipmunks cartoon show that lasts almost a decade longer than the original did. The Chipmunks had announced themselves to the world as "Back and better than ever. Suck it, boomers!"

This is where the meat of the story comes in: With everything set in stone, all that was missing at least according to some schmoe was a knock-off to cash in on their success. So said schmoe creates a knock-off that lives both in obscurity and infamy: The Happy Chipmunks. In 1984, the schmoes recorded and released The Happy Chipmunks Sing Michael Jackson. Unsurprisingly, Ross Jr was one of only a few people on the planet to get word of this rip-off almost immediately after the release of The Happy Chipmunks Sing Michael Jackson and threatened a cease and desist order. The Happy Chipmunks were then renamed The Happy Hamsters. As for the album, it sold like s***. Regardless, the same dudes eho made the knock-off did a 2nd album called The Happy Hamsters Go Ghostbustin' where they cover the Ghostbusters love theme and other Halloween-esque Pop songd while constantly reminding you that they're hamsters, not chipmunks. Like with the first album, the 2nd sold poorly and is now incredibly hard to find.

4 years later, the company that made The Happy Hamsters became a Public Domain VHS Distribution Craphouse that had two divisions: Grampa's Monster Movies (a straight to video show where Al Lewis reprises his role as Grandpa Munster from the hit 1960's tv show The Munsters and shows old b-horror and science fiction films) and Kid Pics (which showed old cartoons from the depression through WWII). The host of Kid Pics was some dude in a Happy Hamster costume that at the end of each video would tell you all about a Kid Pics Club where you would write down stuff about yourself, mail it away and then get a free Kid Pics t-shirt and Happy Hamsters Poster.

The club it turns out was a trap set to lure kids to creepy men whom would kidnap them, groom them and force them to participate in pageants. This got the video company responsible for this into a lot of trouble and they werw unceremoniously closed in 1990. And the Hamster died off into permanent obscurity as well as infamy. And now that you read this long story, without further ado... Here's the Happy Hamsters Go Ghostbustin'

<!-- You're using demo endpoint of Iframely API commercially. 44606Ghostbusters III
I would love to see the Ghostbusters team up with the Happy Hamsters (Alvin and the Chipmunks knock-off band from the 80's that covered Michael Jackson songs about love affairs and estranged children, as well as human nature. They did a 2nd album called The Happy Hamsters Go Ghostbustin' where they're "out there to bust ghosts. And they're not talking about Casper the Friendly Ghost" (literally one of the cringy lines from their cover of Ghostbusters)
RetroSnob88Dec 16, 2019View

44604YouTube's nail in the coffin
a friend of mine has been tempting me to continue making youtube videos, so i think what i'll do is this: i'll continue uploading for the month, and if youtube doesn't do anything stupid i'll go ahead and stick around for next year. but from now on all of my videos will be labeled as "not for kids" even if the videos don't have anything offensive or graphic. a majority of the people who have subscribed to my channel are adult viewers anyway.
BenjanimeDec 15, 2019View
