44642Your Home Town
My hometown has devolved into a crime-ridden hell hole. I try not to go back, sadly my mother still lives there.
Linux_SageDec 18, 2019View

44640McDonald's
Our local McDonald's only recently removed their playground (though it wasn't nearly as cool as the ones you have pictured) and totally remodeled the place to match the sterile, medical facility-esque design that so many McD's are going to. It was pretty sad really.

At one time, our McD's was really cool and unique. The interior and exterior more closely resembled the classic McD's, and featured a train track embedded in the ceiling with a working train (to commemorate the location of the McD's being on top of an old train station). It featured an ice cream bar with hand-dipped Breyer's ice cream and fresh made waffle cones, and was the last location in America to offer pizza (which was actually quite good).

Now it is so modernized it has the touchscreen ordering stations and minimalist design inside. It's dreadful.

RetroSnob88 wrote :
...this is what a McDonald's Playground typically looked like way back when. 44638McDonald's
I know I recently complained about McDonald Land ripping off their concept from an old show nobody but me even gives a crap about anymore, but like I said, for what it was, we at least got an awesome outdoor playground out of it once upon a time. Before whiny Soccer Moms and overly sensitive parents who freak out at even the slightest drop of a hat had all the cool stuff banned to make way for something worse (the plastic that replaced it is not as safe as everyone says it is. Not to mention that crap accumulates bacteria), this is what a McDonald's Playground typically looked like way back when. I was part of the last generation that ever got to experience this

RetroSnob88Dec 18, 2019View
44637Favorite retro slogans

@Vaporman - Lol nah, it's from the 2nd Simpsons Christmas Special where Bart shoplifts. At the beginning of the episode, he and Lisa watch the special It's a Krusty Kind of Christmas hosted by Krusty the Clown. The sponsors for the special are ILG (an obvious parody of the Independent Grocers of America or IGA for short) with the slogan "Selling your body's chemicals after you die" and the other sponsor is Little Sweetheart Cupcakes (A division of ILG)
RetroSnob88Dec 18, 2019View
