| 45924 | Questions for those on the spectrum... |
I just watched a documentary The Speed Cubers (about Rubik's Cube competitors) on Netflix in which one of the subjects has autism. It's interesting, and depicts his parents' experience working with his development. Review
| shakin steak | Aug 15, 2020 | ![]() |
| 45923 | Smells Like Nirvana |
You called this one perfectly, Caps.

CBS dropped "Weird Al" faster than 3rd period French - LOL! The TV show went against the character Al had established for years, many longtime fans reacted that same as you. I understood Al was under expectations to create a different character that was still named Al, go figure!
| eddstarr | Aug 15, 2020 | ![]() |
| 45922 | Animaniacs |

Caps 2.0 wrote :

I'm torn about the Animaniacs revival, mainly because I count several of the original show's writers among my Facebook friends, and two of them, Tom Ruegger (the creator of Animaniacs) and Sherri Stoner (writer and voice of Slappy Squirrel), are former interview subjects. By all accounts, they're not involved in the revival. The writing was key to what made the show such a standout in the 90s, and I don't know if it will be as good.

-end quote

And thereby hangs an issue for me.

"Animaniacs" paid homage to the WB movie studio days. The "Warners" were actually hosts, or anchors, allowing the writers to create as many new charaters as needed.

Any revival of the show should punt - and create all new characters, making a mockery of the term revival.

Actually, I would go so far as to suggest that the "Warners" only have a cameo presence, being supplanted by a new host, or hosts, in a blatant takeover of the whole concept.

There's no reason even to follow the orignal shows pattern. None of the characters from the 90's show were pre-existing in the Warner Bros. animation catalog. All were completely new and were thus free from the baggage of already established characters.

But that's just me.

Looney Tunes tried new characters all the time. Chuck and the boys knew they were onto someting based on audience reactions.
| eddstarr | Aug 15, 2020 | ![]() |
| 45921 | Animaniacs |
There's some talk that Bernadette Peters might not come back as the voice of Rita.

Will we get to hear Rita sing a verse?
| Mr Magic | Aug 14, 2020 | ![]() |
