| 4122 | Things you don't like about this era. |
Vaporman87 wrote :Do you think I would get decent reception from Huntington WV? There are affiliates for the major networks there and Charelston.
There's a variety of factors, chief among them: Line of sight. What is between you and the source? Hills or mountains, trees, tall buildings, etc. Broadcast TV like terrestrial radio is affected by all this. The strength of their transmission and the structure, amplification, and height of your antenna (such height relates to line of sight) Again outdoor mounting is best for reception. Distance. This really only counts because of FCC regulations (which make satellite comms, air traffic, and other things, possible). I've heard it was once possible to get radio signal from Mexico all across the US...I see that Huntington and Charleston are 60 and 75 miles from Rutland, so it might be possible. I do cop to typing this on my phone as well. But I'm inside and at home alone (Mrs steak is at school) so it's not like I'm missing anything or should be out. | shakin steak | Oct 09, 2013 | ![]() |

| 4120 | Things you don't like about this era. | With regard to always looking at their tiny screens, I couldn't agree more. I mean, I'm typing this reply from my phone at this very moment, but it's not like it couldn't wait until I get home. Oh, and thanks for all that info. I'm VERY interested in this. Going to do some research to see what I need to maybe get this up on my house. Do you think I would get decent reception from Huntington WV? | 4119 | Things you don't like about this era. | I looked at a map. You could probably get reception from Parkersburg (60 mi away). Columbus (100 mi away) looks more iffy, but if you mount it high it's possible. I would look at the installation kits that include the antenna with a preamp and mounting hardware. And contact Denny before buying anything; from what I've seen throughout that website, he seems very open to answering questions and will even give info specific to your area and make appropriate recommendation. If I may go on a tangent, I find it funny that TV from over-the-air has gotten less popular, while internet from wireless has gotten more popular. I guess it's because TVs are bigger now and computers are smaller (when including smart phones to the mix). And to simultaneously end the larger tangent, that's something I don't like about this era. I want TV to be free and accessible everywhere, and I want people to look around them instead of into the tiny screen they carry everywhere. | shakin steak | Oct 08, 2013 | ![]() |

| 4117 | The Circus | I've only been to the circus once, and I remember seeing the guy being shot out of the cannon and hearing that loud boom. That's about all I remember from my experience. | Mr Magic | Oct 08, 2013 | ![]() |
