16857How was your day?Every time I got summoned for jury duty, I had to make a phone call, usually to an automated machine saying I wasn't needed. I'd pack my nook and DS though if I were summoned. Probably my Tanooki ears too, in case I was interviewed.
vkimoFeb 11, 2015View

16853Last Movie You WatchedWatership Down.

Very well done animated flick. It's definitely not like any other animated film out there, even if it is PG-rated . This is something for older folks. But yeah, I'm more than willing to watch this again.

9.0/10
Mr MagicFeb 11, 2015View
16852How was your day?I had jury duty yesterday. Total waste of time. I took notes to prove it.

They say to be there by 9:00. So I'm there and checked in by 8:50. I've never been, so I made sure to give myself more than enough time, just in case it wasn't enough. You never know with the buses, and then the line to get in and go through metal detectors.

Nothing happens until 10:00, except people trickling in. Apparently 9:00 call time is not a rule. I was mad because I needed to go to the post office and I could have done it first if I knew it was like this.

At 10:00 they play a video. It's a grade school-level explanation of a court case and being in a jury. The judge pronounces juror like "jew, roar." The video is 13 minutes long.

Then a guy stands at the front of the room and talks about lunch, cell phone usage, wifi, parking, vending machines, the cafeteria, outside food places, etc. Mostly related to lunch and he is extremely repetitive. Almost everything he said, he would say it two or three or four different ways. He kept repeating himself and saying the same thing over and over again. (If you see what I mean here). He talked for almost fifteen minutes.

At 11:40 they called one panel. At 11:43 they called another panel.

At 11:58 lunch is announced. We have until 1:30. I ate the sandwich I brought. That took about five minutes. Normally I can go through most of the day without eating anything but being this bored, well, I got hungry. In fact my sandwich and some vending machine chips weren't enough, so I went to the cafeteria and got one of the worst burgers I have ever had. Then I smoked a half cig. Again I usually don't need to do this until after the day is over, but man was I bored. Anyway, I was back to the waiting room at 12:28. One more hour of "lunch" to go. I don't know what everybody does with all this time. It's crazy. I did see one guy sleeping on the floor. I had my kindle and had been reading it. But working in a cubicle at a computer has really messed up my attention span so I alternated between that, glancing at the daytime TV shows, and looking at the internet on my phone.

Then everybody was dismissed at 2:07. I think there was about four or five panels left.

And my company doesn't pay for jury duty, so I get to keep my check for a grand $17.20.
shakin steakFeb 11, 2015View

16850General suggestionsI'm looking to get a few more tasks completed by Moudy and the Code Magic Clan (I made that up just now... genius).

- Add a Retrorating average to the "Star Submitters" list. 16849A fifth National Lampoon's Vacation film has been announced. I loved Christina Applegate as Kelly Bundy, so it'll be great seeing her in this.
Mr MagicFeb 11, 2015View
