4880 | Article | jkatz | "a cheap and exploitative rag that showed obscene favor to DC and Marvel, while also overlooking the indie comics scene." I'd buy Wizards occasionally and I have to agree this is kinda true...they got a little better about it in later years, though. | Mar 06, 2019
4882 | Article | Hoju Koolander | I was a big Wizard reader and subscriber from issue 7 on, so this article was right up my alley. I actually got a Grendel 1/2 comic as a birthday present one year from a cheapskate classmate just passing along his Wizard insert. I do have to disagree with your claim that the magazine showed favoritism toward Marvel and DC though. Especially in the early days the staff acted like the books from Image and Valiant were the pinnacle of graphic storytelling along with other indie books like Shi, Bone, Hellboy and Lady Death. It was only after the early 90s boom ended and the "Big Two" were back to being the main providers of comics to the mainstream that they got more coverage. At least that was my experience. | Five Best Wizard Magazine freebies | Mar 09, 2019

4937 | Article | Benjanime | i have the nintendo power issue covering a guide for the felix the cat game, never got around to renting it but it looked like a fun, basic platform romp from the screenshots that were provided so after i bought my nes classic i added the game to it. some of these other games i've definitely never seen or heard about before. great read! | Underrated NES Games | May 28, 2019

4942 | Article | OldSchool80s | Surprisingly, don't remember playing any of these 5 games myself. I will have to take your word for it. Stay retro, yourself! | Underrated NES Games | May 28, 2019
4944 | Article | Vaporman87 | Wow! I’ve not played any of these titles. Thanks for bringing them to our attention. Looks like I missed out on some fun play. | Underrated NES Games | May 29, 2019
4947 | Article | NLogan | I love playing Dragon Spirit! It was one of my favorites. We also played Rampart to death. Once you get to the Greek fire ships it becomes murderously hard. It was also a blast playing against each other turning the opponent's walls into Swiss cheese. I don't recommend Rampart in the arcade however as there was no joystick only a trackball that made building walls in time impossible. | Underrated NES Games | May 29, 2019
4948 | Article | jkatz | Felix the Cat looks like it would be a lot of fun! The changes in Guevara/Guerilla don't surprise me at all. Bionic Commando removed all references to Hitler and the nazis for the US release (but kept his exploding head!) | Underrated NES Games | Jun 01, 2019
5725 | Article | Vaporman87 | Another great list Ben. You can tell that Aero The Acro-Bat was trying SO hard to catch on and ride that mascot wave alongside the greats. But there was just something missing. Glad you didn't include Gex in this list. I still think if that character had been a part of a better game, he could have been far more popular. | Washed Up Video Game Mascots | Sep 02, 2023 |
