943 | Article | Vaporman87 | Agreed Fulton. That was a classic scene. Regarding movie soundtracks, I rarely purchased one in my early teens. I did eventually buy the TMNT movie soundtrack (which I believe was the first soundtrack I ever purchased) and thoroughly enjoyed it. But I was 16 when that movie came out, so I was late coming to the "soundtrack" scene. After that purchase, I think movie soundtracks were the bulk of what I purchased as far as music is concerned. I liked that I could get a good mix of different styles of music, from various artists, all on one tape (or CD). | Jan 08, 2014

5598 | Article | Vaporman87 | Agreed. Though I think it is one thing to use old branding in advertisements and such. It is something else entirely to incorporate those old aesthetics into the business model and see it extend to physical items and locations. THAT is what I'm waiting for. | What's Old is New Again:Retro Branding Comebacks | Feb 08, 2022

2801 | Article | onipar | Ah man, those old Ben cooper and collegeville costumes! I remember them well. Even though I don't think I used them many times, they were everywhere come fall, and they are a huge part of my memory. | Halloween Night In The 80's | Oct 08, 2015
2377 | Article | echidna64 | Ah one of my friends had the exact same chemistry set. I always wanted one. I believed that at age 7 I could become a mad scientist and create potions like Erkel | Yesterdays: Things I DIDN'T Have As A Kid | Jul 10, 2015
2025 | Article | AnEarly90sMan | Ah yes, the Bart Simpson hair carving. The good old days. Remember when people had this: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Return_of_Superfly_(soundtrack)#/media/File:The_Return_of_Superfly.jpg Those magazine ads are definitely from an early 90s magazine. You can see the mid 90s coming in (Pop Qwiz popcorn, anyone), but there's still a HW Bush era atmosphere (Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers) to them. Those Simpsons Illustrated issues had to be from the fall of 1991 into the spring of 1992 when we were getting a lot closer to 1993. 1166 | Article | Vaporman87 | Ah yes. Pee Wee Herman. Such a peculiar character, but fascinating to me as a kid. I really enjoyed Pee Wee's Big Adventure. And I REALLY wanted that bike. I also wanted to punch Francis in the face. And... I may or may not have had a bit of a crush on Dottie (it irked me greatly that Pee Wee kept avoiding her advances, lol). Then came the theater incident. I hated that whole thing. It ruined everything about Pee Wee for me. I couldn't get the same enjoyment from the movies or the television show after that, even if just for nostalgic reflection. He did do a very good job as the "second in command" vampire in Buffy The Vampire Slayer (the movie, not the stupid television show). But lots of time has passed, and I'd be willing to give Pee Wee another shot. | Pee-wee's Big Adventure... and my Big Obsession | Jul 08, 2014
