3918ArticleVaporman87Poor Kitty is always in Wolvie's way. It's a wonder he didn't really lose his temper with her more often. Also, those What Ifs sure could be bleak! Jun 08, 2017View
3919ArticleVaporman87Obviously the most memorable was the "This is your brain on drugs" ads, but I also recall the "snake man" ad and some others you mentioned. These were mostly reminders of the state of affairs in the country at the time as opposed to actual deterrents. Even so, it is possible that somebody was affected by them enough to think twice about getting involved in the drug scene.Memories of PDFA, and other PSA’s Jun 08, 2017View
3930ArticleVaporman87Man. Still can't believe we actually lived in a time when M.C. Hammer was not only famous, but actually spawned figures and a cartoon. If not any other time, surely that time would have been the right one for complete reality implosion. Antique Store Finds: RebornJun 08, 2017View
3931ArticleVaporman87Ha! Laughable, these. You have to love Adam X. Seriously. Nothing screams "EXTREME!!!" more so than that guy. He makes every other "EXTREME!!!" style character look like Dick Tracy. My Five Favorite Super Losers of the 90'sJun 08, 2017View
3932ArticleVaporman87This is an amazing list for certain... but I still can't get over seeing Prince sitting on a toilet. That's legendary. Top number 2 Songs from the 80s that never made it to number 1Jun 08, 2017View
3941ArticleVaporman87As many times as I've watched this movie, I've never actually viewed Allison's "makeover" in the way you describe. I've never had that "debate". To me, she is just opening herself up to Claire... allowing Claire to share this ritual with her. A bonding moment. It's just that there was the added benefit of Andrew seeing how beautiful she actually is when she is not hiding under a coat and mop of hair. I don't think she changed at all. 3944ArticleVaporman87I have a similar fondness for Showbiz Pizza. I read about your memories at DZ and I can feel myself back in Showbiz experiencing many of the same things. Also, I love this line: "...my dad, who could be mistaken for a full grown bear in jeans..." LOLDiscovery Zone: Memories of a Ball PitJun 21, 2017View
3945ArticleVaporman87I would have been 8 at the time E.T. came out, but I don't recall going to see the film, nor do I recall the first time I actually did get to watch it. I wish I did though. My first memory of a movie theater was either Ghostbusters or Gremlins. E.T. was indeed a big pop culture influence. I recall owning an E.T. plush with a special "skin" that was more lifelike than the standard vinyl exterior of some plush toys without fur. And yes, I even owned the infamous E.T. Atari game, though I don't recall feeling it was the worst game ever made at the time.Seeing E.T. For The First TimeJun 21, 2017View
3946ArticleVaporman87I saw exactly NONE of these game shows, but a few of them may have been interesting to me had I actually had the opportunity to watch them. Even as an adult, I've only ever heard of Xuxu and Masters of the Maze from this list. Perhaps this is why nobody speaks of them anymore. Because they were so easily missed and faded quickly into obscurity. At least you've given them some present day love.Five Game Shows No One Talks About AnymoreJun 21, 2017View
3947ArticleVaporman87Trading cards... NOOOO! These ads came out at a time when my dad was ridiculously obsessed with sports cards. He was buying crazy amounts of them and hoarding them. He would watch late night shopping network shows, buying up the cards. It was a crazy time. So many great "time capsule" ads here. Comics were, and hopefully will always be, a great place to find reflections of our culture in the advertisements.Retro Comic Book AdsJun 21, 2017View
