3281 | Article | Vaporman87 | Short but sweet. I don't recall this show at all. But the concept seems pretty solid. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, TDitH. | Jan 19, 2016
3282 | Article | Vaporman87 | Man, who DIDN'T want some sweet, themed bunk bed set up. I would have loved to have had a set up bunk beds like what is available today. So many varieties, and with some really cool features. Like you, it would have been pretty pointless for me to have bunk beds. It was just me and my sister for one part of my childhood (and we had separate rooms), and me and my brother for the rest (but we just had a queen bed in the basement). By the time I was living with my dad, I was not really interested in having a bunk bed. We did have a set of bunk beds for the boys for a few years here. But we did away with them recently (the top bunk never got used). | Bunk Beds | Jan 19, 2016
3283 | Article | Vaporman87 | This was a part of childhood I never experienced (for which I am grateful, actually). It would have been very difficult for me if I had, being a very shy and introverted kid who was also short. Probably the closest experience I could have had to this would have been my first year in high school (which, as I have previously mentioned elsewhere here at RD, was actually my 7th grade year... since there was no "middle school" in my school district. 7th graders and Seniors walked the same halls in my school). That was a bit of an awkward struggle for us all, being so young and trying to find our place amongst these high schoolers. No, I needed the stability and familiarity in my youth. Even though my status in school wasn't exactly what one would like, it was enough for me to get by without too much bullying/humiliation/etc., and I even managed to be acceptable enough to be on friendly terms with some whose status was much higher than mine. I made it work, somehow. To have to give that up and start anew... that would have crushed me, I think. I'm glad you made the most of it Hoju. My hats off to you. | Being The New Kid | Jan 19, 2016
3292 | Article | Vaporman87 | I knew that I enjoyed the song, but don't recall much about the video, despite the fact that I was a huge music video watcher when this video first came out (on both MTV and Friday Night Videos). I love that you have brought this to our attention. It gives us another glimpse at what we thought life might be like in "the future" back in the 80's (even predating BTTF's version of our time by about 6 years). What was it about "the future" that made us instinctively envision a lack of color (silver everything)? | Rick Springfield’s futuristic ‘Human Touch’ video takes place in 2016 | Jan 24, 2016
3295 | Article | Vaporman87 | This was a very emotional read, and really well done. I can think back to my time in school, and watching some of my fellow classmates suffer like you. I myself was the target of the occasional bully, though not nearly to this extent. I somehow managed to find a place in school that kept me out of the crosshairs for the most part, and even allowed me to have some civil relationships with those who might otherwise have bullied me. I can't imagine the bullying I did receive being multiplied to such a degree that I feared going to school every day, and felt like there was no help for me. Now that I am a father of school age children myself, I see the act of bullying from a totally different perspective. I would be furious to find out such things were happening to my child, and the school would come to fear my phone calls if such things ever happened routinely. I am not one of those people who believe our children today are becoming spoiled and weak because we are more serious about bullying in our schools these days. Bullying is something that no child should have to endure. I do believe that kids today are indeed more apt to BE spoiled and weak, but not because of our approach to bullying in schools today. Thank you for sharing this difficult set of memories with us Rick. I think I speak for everyone when I say that I am glad you overcame all that adversity. | Being Bullied | Feb 01, 2016
3296 | Article | Vaporman87 | It's certainly true that there were a great many flaws in the WCW, but they were the same flaws that plagued the WWF/WWE as well. Most of those flaws centered around the extent to which things could become corny beyond repair. But for every David Arquette winning a title belt in WCW, there was a Mae Young giving birth to plastic hands in the WWE. LOL | In Defense of World Championship Wrestling | Feb 01, 2016
3297 | Article | Vaporman87 | I, unfortunately, never owned this awesome piece of Marvel history. But I did have many similar activity books prominently featuring other properties. Most of those were either Masters of the Universe or Transformers related. I still own a Masters of the Universe Sticker book, complete with some of the stickers that were meant to fill it's pages. I didn't manage to get many of the stickers though, so most of the spots meant for the stickers are blank. Maybe I should search Ebay for what I need to finish it, eh? | Mighty Marvel Jumbo Fun Book | Feb 01, 2016
3298 | Article | Vaporman87 | It's great to see some animated vehicles make this list, being a big fan of the Thunderhawk (it adorns the front page here!) and the Party Wagon. I can think of no vehicle from television that could hold the number one spot aside from K.I.T.T. It truly belongs there, without a doubt. The General Lee and A-Team van are also very deserving of spots in the list. Actually, I can't think of any 80's TV vehicles more deserving of being here in the top 5. | 5 Best TV Cars of the 80s | Feb 01, 2016
3311 | Article | Vaporman87 | I was sitting here thinking, "But Ecto-1 was a movie based car". However, it was in the Real Ghostbusters cartoon, wasn't it? So I guess it COULD qualify in this list. | 5 Best TV Cars of the 80s | Feb 03, 2016
3362 | Article | Vaporman87 | I'm pretty sure I received several Smurfs cards. They were pretty popular in the early 80's, when I was in elementary school. Sometimes Star Wars would make it into the mix too. For me, making my "receiving box" was the highlight. I always did my best to deck that thing out and outdo the others.
