ArticleVaporman87You are not alone. I too delved into the mysterious art of Ninjit... I mean, Karate. I'm pretty certain my foray into it was even shorter than yours. I may have taken two or three classes and called it quits. It was just... so... boring. I think the clincher was that I tried very hard to perform the moves correctly, but found myself having my fist raised like, a half an inch higher by instructors. Seriously? You really think that's necessary? Will an opponent allow me make such adjustments? "Oh sorry, I punched you just a smidgen too low. Hang on and I'll give it another go." Yeah, I was done. My oldest son, on the other hand, has outlasted me by a great deal. He has progressed to his yellow belt, and is on the verge of moving up to orange. I don't think he really gets much enjoyment out of it though. I don't think it IS an enjoyable thing for youngsters. It's more of a means to feel a bit more confidence and learn some discipline. I'm considering some other alternative for him that I know he might enjoy, like Cub Scouts. I spent a few years in Cub Scouts, progressing all the way to Webelos before dropping out. I think he might (possibly) find that to be more enjoyable, but I'm not sure. Jul 28, 2015View
ArticleVaporman87Super Mario 3, Ivan Stewart, and Pro Wrestling were staples of my childhood gameplay. Super Mario 3 was an awesome sequel and really had a lot going for it both in hype and in the final product. Ivan Stewart was a game that my brother and I would play religiously. It was a really fun multiplayer game and we enjoyed building up our trucks and giving it to the A.I. competition. And, of course, Pro Wrestling was just a blast. Loved the characters (my favorite being Amazon), the moves, and the mechanics. A friend of mine who was a big wrestling fan (more than me) and I would get together and play the game for long periods of time. Not just a great wrestling game, but a great NES game period. 2443ArticleVaporman87I never had the opportunity to place this one. It seemed to stray quite a bit from the standard Mario offering, and I think that made me unsure of whether or not it was worth investing any time into. I guess I figured nothing could top Mario 64Article Classic: Super Mario Sunshine ReviewAug 02, 2015View
ArticleVaporman87My Trapper Keepers were vaults into my imagination, which also happened to house my schoolwork. I decorated them and filled them up with tons of sketches and comics I drew during study hall. I never had a really cool backpack. They were always pretty plain looking, with no licensed product on anything on them. Now my folders were a different story. I had lots of different folders featuring cartoon characters to just funky shapes to just plain red or blue. Those too were decorated to fit my desires. Those pencils with the "bullet" leads were some of my favorites, even if they weren't that practical. I don't think owned any of those until I entered high school though. I do have a story that pertains to this subject a bit. Once, while I was cleaning out my desk while our teacher (Mr. Will, a bit of a hothead) giving a lesson, I suddenly heard the smack of my pencil box on the top of my desk and saw it shatter into pieces before me. My stuff went everywhere, including one of those compasses with the sharp point on it to hold it in place on the paper. It startled me. Then I saw that it was the teacher who had picked it up off my desk and shattered it. He didn't like that I was cleaning my desk while he was talking. He then said something to the effect of, "And I don't care if you tell your parents about this, it's your fault." Well, I did tell my mom (my parents were divorced at this time). She was dating a State Highway Patrolman at the time, who was 6'8" tall. He and my mom went to pay him a visit. LOL The next day, he apologized to me and the class, and purchased me a new box. Yeah. I think he ended up caring that I told a parent. Retro School SuppliesAug 02, 2015View
ArticleVaporman87Nope. In fact, I went on to become a ninja (or at least dressed exactly like one). I got a ninja suit for Christmas one year out of one of those martial arts catalogs. The Karate Class KidAug 02, 2015View
ArticleVaporman87I hope to catch this series some time. Perhaps on YouTube or elsewhere. I hate that I missed it on it's first go around. This is something that would have interested me in my youth. I like shows like this and Fantasy Island. Anything with a bit of intrigue and mystery/adventure.A Look Back at Tales of the Gold MonkeyAug 02, 2015View
ArticleVaporman87I wonder how socially scorned they would be if we sent them to school with all the coolest stuff... from when WE were in school? They could tell them it's "retro cool" and classified as memorabilia. Hmmm.Retro School SuppliesAug 03, 2015View
ArticleVaporman87Sonic CD and Earthworm Jim are two great games from this list. Earthworm Jim always appealed to me because of the cooky nature of it's protagonist and story. I became a fan of Doug TenNapel after this game was released. Such a creative mind and interesting personality. Top Ten Video Games That I Played During SummerAug 03, 2015View
ArticleVaporman87I was always a Bases Loaded guy. That game gave me and my friends so many hours of competitive fun. But when Baseball Stars came out, I have to say it did steal some of Bases Loaded's thunder. I loved creating my own teams and players(I can even tell you the one I used the most, Grate's Gung-Hos). I loved earning money and making the team and players better. If there was one thing I REALLY wished Jaleco would have done with Bases Loaded 2, it would have been adding the creative aspects of Baseball Stars in.
