2315 | Article | DirtyD79 | I hear ya on the one about the GI Joes. In addition to the rubber band inside breaking sometimes the thumbs would break off too. While the figures that had broken rubber bands we went the ghetto fab route and just taped them back together. The ones with the broken thumbs you could pretty much just put them in a vehicle since they couldn't hold guns or anything. A GIJoe who can't hold guns just isn't really a GI Joe anymore. It's like a Transformer that can't transform or a Ninja Turtle that couldn't hold swords. That was another one sometimes the hands would break off and well they'd be useless. Then again me and my bro were pretty rough on our toys. | Jun 23, 2015
2316 | Article | DirtyD79 | While I can't get behind baggin' on the Ninja Turtles I definitely have to agree I hated the rest of these shows too. I wanted to like Cartoon All Stars To The Rescue because hey all the cartoon characters are in it but it was just preachy and lame. | Overrated shows from my childhood | Jun 23, 2015
2329 | Article | DirtyD79 | Great article. I still remember the house I lived in back in the early 90s. It had the wood paneling in quite a few rooms. Unfortunately it also had the butt ugly 1970s wallpaper in the kitchen. We also had a papasan chair like in the picture although the one we had had a pink cushion on it. I haven't seen one of of those in ages. I forget what ended up becoming of the one we had. Also say what you will about the decor of that bathroom but man I'd kill to have a bathroom that big. | Retro Rooms | Jun 26, 2015
2944 | Article | DirtyD79 | Personally I don't really believe in ghosts but I like hearing the stories around them and seeing supposedly haunted places. Last year my girlfriend and I visited the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA and I really enjoyed it. For those who don't know the story goes that while Sarah Winchester was alive she was regularly haunted by the ghosts of everyone who was killed by the rifles her late husband's company made. She constantly did renovations on the house everyday for years. Some say it was to appease the spirits others say it was to confuse them. You'll see stuff like doors and stair cases that lead to nowhere and the whole house just has countless rooms that were added on over the course of time. Strangely, I remember in a picture we had one of the tour guides take of us I saw what looked like an old woman looking through a window at us. I'm thinking it's mostly likely just ruffled curtains but still it seemed pretty freaky. | Searching for a Real Haunted House | Oct 15, 2015
2945 | Article | DirtyD79 | Great story. 7th grade was the last time I went out trick or treating too. What happened that night was a blizzard. I think me, my brother, and one of our friends were the only kids out that night on the street. Fittingly I dressed up as Sub Zero from Mortal Kombat although wearing a coat kinda threw the whole look off. While we did get a lot of candy that night we ended up paying for it, All three of us ended up getting the flu. After that I just grew out of it. | My Final Halloween | Oct 15, 2015
2962 | Article | DirtyD79 | @NLogan When I first looked at the picture in your comment I first noticed what I thought was Jesus' face. I remember hearing a theory similar to what you mentioned. Someone was mentioning on this one site how kids usually notice the arrow in between the "E" and the "X" in the FEDEX logo before adults do. | Searching for a Real Haunted House | Oct 16, 2015
2976 | Article | DirtyD79 | You got snowed on too during a Halloween? Geez, I seriously wonder why they don't move Halloween to like July or something. Even when it ain't snowing it's still chilly out up in the Northeast part of the country. | Halloween: 10 year old terror | Oct 19, 2015
2977 | Article | DirtyD79 | Batman was one of my favorite movies I saw as a kid. I think we watched it a couple of times at the drive-in that summer. I remember hearing in the months leading up to it people would actually go to theaters and buy tickets just to watch the previews for the Batman movie then walk out when the preview was over. I still have the VHS copy although my VCR kinda died a few years ago so I bought the four pack of Batman movie DVDs from Wal-mart a year ago. | Batman '89 Remembered | Oct 19, 2015
3123 | Article | DirtyD79 | I too had to learn cursive back in third grade. Ironically I was much better at writing in cursive than I was at printing. I'm not trying to brag. Believe me, my printing was atrocious as a kid and it's only slightly better all these years later. Nowadays the only time I really need to write in cursive is if I'm signing some forms or something. Honestly I'd be surprised if any elementary schools still teach it these days. | Cursive Curse | Nov 18, 2015
3124 | Article | DirtyD79 | This one Burger King I used to work at back in 2003 still has the Burger King Kids Club stuff up over in their Play Land or whatever you want to call it. Personally I miss the old McDonald's playland. When I was a kid this one we used to always go to had those booths that looked like a train. It was even more cool because the restaurant was across the street from some train tracks so you could watch trains go by while you ate. They also had those Fry Kid bouncy things, the slide with that pirate dude on top, and that Officer Big Mac climbing thing. The mouth formed bars like a little jail cell and you could jump out of this one gap. I remember as a kid thinking it was like a zillion miles high and then being surprised how small it was when I was a teenager. I also remember people used to write graffiti inside there. The typical stuff like "For a good time call blah blah blah." or anarchy symbols. I gotta agree McDonald's and most fast food places these days just look lame. Boring box shaped buildings with decor straight out of a hospital waiting room. Just no imagination. | What I Miss From Childhood | Nov 18, 2015 |
