951ArticleVaporman87I meant to add some words about Clue also. I would like to see a line of characters from that movie. That is one of the VERY few movies that I can actually REMEMBER watching in the theater. Jan 22, 2014View
953ArticleVaporman87I was happy to see (or smell that is) that Stinkor for the Classics line was also scented with that familiar foul aroma. I would say, with regard to toys in general that scared me, I did have a tremendous fear of ventriloquist dummies. I had seen parts or the movie, "Magic", starring Anthony Hopkins. That did it for for me. And then seeing "Poltergeist" didn't help either. As far as toys that I myself owned, I once had a 4 or 5 foot tall gorilla that stood on all fours. It was an awesome toy. I personally never feared it as it stood beside my bed. But my friends who would stay the night didn't feel the same way. Most of them hated the thing. LOL. Thanks again Miss M.The Fear of ToysJan 24, 2014View
955ArticleVaporman87LOL. That would be another example of a film turning me against dolls and dummies. They get a bad rap from the film industry. And that's if you leave out the horror one feels when seeing the Garbage Pail Kids movie. The Fear of ToysJan 24, 2014View
958ArticleVaporman87I can still vaguely recall the smell of opening up a new NES cartridge from it's cardboard and plastic home. It's so strange how odors like that can bury itself in our memory banks for a lifetime. And like Trash Man mentioned, old comics can send you back too. The Fear of ToysJan 24, 2014View
959ArticleVaporman87On the subject of Bill Nye, I heard he will soon be debating Ken Ham from Answers In Genesis (the proprietor of the Creation Museum) on the topic of human creation/evolution. Interesting.90's Vs: Bill Nye the Science Guy vs...Jan 25, 2014View
960ArticleVaporman87Ahhh... you really know how to bring out the nostalgia in a reader. Yes, rainy days COULD be fun. To be honest, I don't remember much about what we would typically do during elementary school recesses that were rained out. If I'm not mistaken, we would hang out in class or the gym. This was not nearly as fun as being outside (and under less focused supervision). Yet, rainy days did have a special quality about them. For me, it forced me to draw more on my inner creativity... creating new ways to enjoy my toys or new ideas for crafting or drawing things that interested me. Everything from forts in the garage made of refrigerator boxes (my family owned a furniture store until the mid-90's) to robots made with cardboard, construction paper, markers, and tape. I didn't particularly like playing IN the rain though. However, it did provide some neat chances to create mini landscapes for my toys to live in... landscapes with "ponds" and "rivers". This was a great article. Thanks for this vkimo!!! Remembering Rainy DaysJan 30, 2014View
965ArticleVaporman87Forts, tunnels, "trampolines"... all great couch cushion creations. Occasionally they became "buildings" for my sister and I to destroy Godzilla style (complete with a rolled up blanket tucked into the back of my pants as a "tail"). They also make great "chairs" to hit opponents with when you're "wrestling". lolRemembering Rainy DaysJan 30, 2014View
966ArticleVaporman87I think the show that most captured my attention as a kid that had a particular focus on wildlife was Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. I can remember coming home from church on Sundays and sitting down on the couch to enjoy that show. I can still hear the show announcer ringing in my ears, introducing the show following commercial breaks. Great show, that was.Long Lost 90s: Really Wild AnimalsJan 30, 2014View
972ArticleVaporman87Oh man. Soooo much commercial goodness here that I had all but forgotten about. I have to start with the Whatchamacallit ad. I had COMPLETELY forgotten everything about that commercial. And yet, I remember seeing it so much that it would rattle around in my head for hours afterward. I miss seeing that ad on tv. The Crystal Pepsi ad with the "Right Now" song is such a good ad. Too bad the drink wasn't. lol Then, of course, there are the 7-UP and Nike ads which I recall seeing many times over. The Jordan/Bug Bunny ad played constantly it's prime, and I think was only topped by the Barkley vs. Godzilla ads. I have never seen the "fart/pager" ad before. That is hilarious! I knew several people who had pagers, though I did not. I can see their usefulness at the time, but I simply just did not receive enough phone calls to warrant owning one. Thanks for these great Super Bowl ads Miss M!Super Bowl CommercialsJan 31, 2014View
970ArticleVaporman87Good grief! What country was your school in that there were all these bands who didn't know any English language songs? Oh right, California. lol. ;) Ah, if there is one thing I can clearly recall it is the feeling of being at one of our high school dances after the football games. Many times, I was like you... sitting on the bleachers talking with friends and imagining dancing with my crush. She, of course, had a boyfriend at all times and was fathoms out of my league, but that just can't stop those dreams, can it. I can vividly recall the dancing going on to the recently released single by none other than Vanilla Ice, Ice Ice Baby. Yup, every student and his brother was out there dancing like fools to that song. Wow, looking back on it now it all seems so ridiculous. LOL. But man, it was huge when it first hit. Thanks so much for this pikachulover!Dancing and BasketballJan 31, 2014View
