4193 | Article | Hoju Koolander | It's so interesting to get a different perspective on this film and the fandom surrounding it, since I was an 18 year old dude at the time. I also saw it in theaters, then immediately bought the soundtrack. Such a hilarious film and the music is killer. Of course, there was no recognizable character I could have dressed up as, unless I could throw together a DuJour outfit. But maybe one of these days I oughtta try a Wyatt costume on and see if anybody recognizes me. | Nov 06, 2017
4194 | Article | Hoju Koolander | Yeah, the only non-sports cards to be found now are gaming based or wrestling themed, unless you count the Panini sticker packs and albums being offered at Dollar Tree stores. I love looking at the movie cards because sometimes those stills are from deleted scenes that never made it to the finished film. | Trading Card Treasures | Nov 06, 2017
4198 | Article | Hoju Koolander | @mickyarber I never had the commitment to any one property to try and get a full set unless it was Marvel, but even then I am still like 15 cards short in each set. I still have a dream of buying a sealed box of unopened Marvel Universe series 1 or 2. I'll make that come true some day soon. @NLogan I had no idea they made Dragon's Lair cards, that's wild. Oh man, a full set of KISS and GB2 cards would be sweet, especially if I did it pack by pack. Don't want to lose the thrill of the hunt. | Trading Card Treasures | Nov 08, 2017
4200 | Article | Hoju Koolander | It was really interesting to learn about this extra feature of G.I. Joe collecting back in the day. I wonder how many points the USS Flagg was worth? The fun fact about that Sgt. Slaughter being an unused mold from LJN's WWF Superstars line was pretty neat. | GI Joe Flag Points | Nov 12, 2017
4208 | Article | Hoju Koolander | @pikachulover I knew you'd have my back on this one. Yep, KCOP Channel 13 was where I watched almost all of these cartoons, with the exception of the Marvel Action Universe, which played on KTLA Channel 5. Although I think the later version in the 90s called the Marvel Action Hour with Iron Man and Fantastic Four eventually played on KCOP. I'm blanking on Paw Paw Bears though. They look vaguely familiar, but I don't think I watched it. | SUNDAY Morning Cartoons | Nov 28, 2017
4211 | Article | Hoju Koolander | @jkatz I personally mention it way too much along with the Rambo cartoon, but you're right, it was nobody's favorite. Did you buy that sealed tape? Forgotten or not, that's awesome! @comic_book_fan Yeah, that whole 90s period of watered down violent video game cartoons was crazy. Those 2 you mentioned, plus Double Dragon were memorable and do you remember Ultraforce with Prime and company? | SUNDAY Morning Cartoons | Nov 29, 2017
4212 | Article | Hoju Koolander | Correction: I mention in the article that Silverhawks was a Rankin-Bass production, but I meant Thundercats. Silverhawks was produced by Lorimar. | SUNDAY Morning Cartoons | Nov 29, 2017
4216 | Article | Hoju Koolander | @jkatz Yeah, Dude! I still have a VCR (multiple actually) and love the VHS experience. Thanks! I'll PM you my info. | SUNDAY Morning Cartoons | Nov 29, 2017
4220 | Article | Hoju Koolander | @Benjanime Yeah, we all had high hopes for the SMB movie and though it was disappointing as a kid, I find it to be a fun little oddity these days. My favorite part of these old magazines is finding mentions of games/movies that were planned, but didn't come out or at least not in the way they were originally presented. | Retro Magazine RoundUp: Nintendo Power | Dec 04, 2017
4279 | Article | Hoju Koolander | Something tells me that if the Green Stamp store existed in my neck of the woods, I would have been encouraging my parents to "pay with plastic" more often. | Retro Ramblings: Green Stamps and Oatmeal Cups | Feb 13, 2018 |
