2532ArticleHoju KoolanderEpic and great narrative structure. Video game bullies were something I encountered as well, growing up. They always approach you as if you did something to offend them, when all you were doing was playing a game alone. In my case, the guy brought 5 of his buddies back to intimidate me and I got out of that skating rink in a hurry. I wish the magic of Street Fighter II could have melted my bully's heart as well. Aug 16, 2015View
2533ArticleHoju KoolanderSaturdays were all about TV for me (but then again, so was every other day). X-Men, Spider-Man and Batman on FOX Kids, then switch over to ABC for Cow-Boys of Moo-Mesa or The Addams Family cartoon, maybe try out an episode of Saved By The Bell: The New Class on NBC, before switching back to FOX for WMAC Masters and getting my wrestling fix from WWF Superstars. If I did go outside it was just a trip to my favorite comic book store, that was the true Saturday destination. After all, you needed an hour or more to browse all the back issues.A Mid-90's Saturday With c_b_fAug 16, 2015View
2544ArticleHoju KoolanderOne of the most original stories I've read on the site. if there is a more roundabout way of getting a Nintendo, I've never heard it. Seriously, loved it.How I Got My NESAug 18, 2015View
2547ArticleHoju KoolanderAs a KISS fan I am ashamed to admit I haven't seen this one, I will have to rectify that this Halloween. I was ridiculed for TRYING to be a heavy metal fan. Had a band and everything, but nobody was buying the fact that the drama kid who played Kenickie in Grease was a metal head. Ah well, I knew what I liked, whether my classmates believed it was up to them.Heavy Metal-Sploitation Part 1Aug 18, 2015View
2549ArticleHoju Koolander@Vaporman87 Yeah, that different seasons in sucession situation was a great way to notice those changes. The other scenario is when the breakout character takes over the show, like Urkel or The Fonz or when they ditched the main character siblings on California Dreams and made Sam, the exchange student the main character. 2555ArticleHoju Koolander@thecrow174 Really, Joey? Of all the adult characters, i found him to be the most consistent, but he did start out kind of goofy. Jesse on the other hand really took a dive though by the end, where everything was about "the hair". @pikachulover Yeah, the whole Seinfeld cast got pretty out there by the end, I guess having Kramer in the mix made George's decline less noticeable. @comic_book_fan So did Erik's hair get floppier or shorter by the end? I have to imagine there is a correlation there.Sitcom Characters Who Got StupidAug 21, 2015View
2560ArticleHoju Koolander@Rick Ace Rhodes He was actually on my list originally, but as ridiculous as he got, they still gave him character building episodes in later seasons to show he had some depth. After all, it was Monica who got the turkey stuck on her head, not Joey, so he still had some dignity.Sitcom Characters Who Got StupidAug 23, 2015View
2567ArticleHoju KoolanderSo awesome. Just imagining what toys I coveted as a kid are hiding in the attics and garages of my elementary school friends parent's houses, makes me me drool. I remember trying to make it through the occasion "adult party", praying that the kids in the house had decent playthings to pass the time. Good stuff.Boredom at Card PartiesAug 27, 2015View
2584ArticleHoju Koolander@Vaporman87 Godzilla was so embraced by America, it's almost as if he has dual-citizenship. My favorite rental of the G-Man was King Kong vs. Godzilla, but it never registered to me as strictly Japanese when I was a kid, despite the obvious dubbing over Japanese actors. @massreality Is the marble edible? Sounds like a game where you try not to hoke to death ;) Have you ever tried those Koala cookies with the chocolate filling? I left those out of the article for space, but that was another Japanese snack I really enjoyed.Japanimaniacs: Video Games, Toys and SnacksAug 29, 2015View
2592ArticleHoju KoolanderOh, Pizza Head, where have you gone? I had just gotten the best of Mr. Bill VHS tape when these commercials started airing, so I was totally tuned in to Pizza Hut during this period. One of my friends loved the commercials so much that when we were picking code names for our secret club he called himself P.G. Steve, inspired by the Narrator in the Pizza Head house party commercial saying, "Hey, it's Party Guy Steve!" Thanks for taking me back, Pizza head was right up there with Stick Stickly on Nickelodeon for simplistic, yet endearing corporate Spokes-creatures.The Pizza Head ShowSep 01, 2015View
