2144ArticleHoju KoolanderThis story had some good heart to it. I totally thought the main character of the game was named Metroid throughout my youth as well, it just made sense. I also appreciated your comment about the promise of fantasy's being final, which made me realize that Final Fantasy is kind of a misleading title since they keep making sequels. I wish I had shocks to report from my gaming years, but they were all pretty much spoiled by Nintendo Power.  Mar 25, 2015View
2174ArticleHoju KoolanderA truly cinematic story. I imagined you being portrayed by a young Fred Savage, with Ariana Richarda taking on the Stacey role. Roberto would be played by Benny from The Sandlot with Jerry Mathers as "The Satanist". Good stuff.Rec Center Memories - Moment of GloryMar 29, 2015View
2178ArticleHoju KoolanderI agree with comic_book_fan, your room is worthy of an entire article. Robocop 2 poster, Batman and Magic Johnson plush dolls on the bed, a Troll doll with what looks like a rifle, Oreo bendy creature as wrll as a Robin sticker on the bookcase and is that a framed Ghostbusters logo? Did you get that as a prize at a fair or something?Rec Center Memories - Chicken FightMar 30, 2015View
2189ArticleHoju Koolander@Vaporman87 Glad to know they acknowledge the past on the new series, I did hear about the Rob Paulsen thing. Didn't they do a similar crossover with the 80's incarnation in the Turtles Forever special with the last 2-D version of the TMNT? @echidna64 I haven't seen much from that duo, although I hear the names a lot. I did watch their Bayou Billy review just to make sure I wasn't rehashing the same old stuff, when I wrote that article. I'll have to check out their thoughts on the TMNT.Turtles: The Teenage Mutant KindApr 02, 2015View
2203ArticleHoju Koolander@AnEarly90sMan I appreciate your confirmation of Turtle-Mania's official start date ;) Maybe in CA we got things going before the rest of the nation. Regarding your Technodrome correction, you are right that it came out in 1989, I meant that quote to read as more of a schoolyard rumor. But as soon as that thing hit shelves, you better believe that Brent was all over it.Turtles: The Teenage Mutant KindApr 04, 2015View
2205ArticleHoju KoolanderI definitely watched my fair share of Clarissa on those lonely SNICK watching evenings of my youth. I loved that episode where she stood up to the bulky and then ended up dating the guy for a little while. Totally unexpected turn of events, Ferguson's evil laugh was always a good time. I had heard about this pilot in the past, but never tracked it down. Thanks for posting it. The creator of the show did a great interview on The AV Club a while back if you want to red it here http://www.avclub.com/article/clarissa-explains-it-all-creator-mitchell-kriegman-208535Clarissa Now - A ReviewApr 07, 2015View
2209ArticleHoju Koolander@MissM That's awesome that you had all the April figures. I'm sure that included the cave-woman one, right? That whole prehistoric line was pretty wacky.Turtles: The Teenage Mutant KindApr 09, 2015View
2215ArticleHoju Koolander@both I totally wanted to add Alyssa as she was incredibly mesmerizing to me at 7 years old (commercials for that Teen Steam workout video rocked my world) but unfortunately she was nobody's sister and did not qualify for the list. A case could be made that she was Angela's son's surrogate sister, I just didn't think it fit. Definitely agree with you though. Hottest TV SistersApr 13, 2015View
2217ArticleHoju KoolanderPretty awesome recollection of that brief moment in time. I wasn't allowed to drink caffeinated sodas, but the look of the Pepsi can prior to this re-design was such an iconic symbol of my childhood. I even invested in Pepsi Co. During my 6th grade stock market investment project. Way to dig up an not often discussed, but awesome topic. Well written too.The Pepsi Gotta Have It CardApr 14, 2015View
2224ArticleHoju Koolander@Vaporman87 I have a soft spot for promotional t-shirts as well, but the comment that interests me most is the Spuds McKenzie shirt. I have always found it fascinating how lenient adults were back in the day letting kids wear shirts for products they were not old enough to consume. Like Spuds or the Budweiser frogs. Most specifically I remember a girl in my weight training class in high school who wore a shirt crammed with cartoon characters in "Inappropriate" positions, but because they were drawings, no teacher ever noticed. It was crazy. @pikachulover At least you didn't put that on display for all to see outside your robe. That would have been B-A-N-A-N-A-S.Treasured ClothingApr 19, 2015View
