Taking a break from a rehearsal with my high school garage band in '99, our bassist put it on and all I can say is I've never seen so much orange tinted "blood" in my life. They only functioned well when they were acting as cheaters to make the heels/bad guys look that much more evil (Bobby Heenan was king!). but when a face/good guy had a manager (Jimmy Hart with Hulk Hogan) it was pointless because their whole job became acting as a hype machine for a character that was already loved. | 1492 | Article | Hoju Koolander | That's a good point, pikachulover. The Attitude era definitely pumped life back into the WWE in a big way. I personally feel like they are still coasting on that popularity. But the difference I think was that the 80's era was universally accessible because it was classic good vs evil, while the Attitude era was bad vs evil. My brain imagines them skating at each other like a joust and meeting in the middle exchanging punches to the face. @pikachulover: Yeah I grew up in Irvine, which is right next to Newport Beach. I think 75% of skaters are posers (the fashion is definitely a big draw), but the hardcore 25% that hone their skills are really impressive. Skater girls are always cool, whether they skate ot not. The people who just hide out as "snipers" are lame, but most everybody is on the move and you never know who is around the next corner. I finally got a chance to watch The Lost Few and Dark Wrath is awesome! Is that you? Excellent sword work and I love the cardboard armor, I used to make similar costume pieces for myself. The Day Series sounds pretty hilarious. UHF is one of my favorite movies and Weird Al was my musical icon until I was 12, so I take any association as a compliment. I am very distantly related to Al, he is my sister in law's brother in law's cousin. My brother met him at a family gathering a few years back. He really is a grounded character and despite being seemingly grumpy, he really brings a lot of levity to dire circumstances with this wit. I ended up being anti-popular characters when I really started collecting comics in the 90s. I always went for the B-Teamers like Darkhawk and The Ray or Resurrection Man (maybe they're more C-List, actually). I mean I had some Spider-Man stuff (Mostly 2099 and Ben Reilly in "Sensational"), but usually I wanted "What If...?" stories or Elseworlds tales. I figured since I was already trashing H-B, focusing in Filmation's faults would be redundant. Bravestarr and Ghostbusters were B-Level favorites of mine whose animation quality did improve a lot over He-Man, but the associated toys were always better than their cartoons. @pikachulover The Disney cartoons deserve an article all their own. I almost added The Wuzzles to the list, but they were cut for length. I actually thought the G1 My Little Pony TV movies were OK animation wise, but they had pretty scary villains terrorizing the ponies. @Fulton4V Glad get some support on Dinosaucers. One of the creators, Michael Uslan was a producer on Batman '89 and a lifelong comic book fan. My son's babysitter has Swedish ancestry so they do all the traditional processions in those white robes and head wreaths at Christmas.
