3455Articlemickyarber@Crow I too think the excitement has died down. But I wonder sometimes if it just seems that way because we are grown up now. My youngest daughter is a fan, and she is really excited about Wrestlemania coming up. Reminds me of me at that age. But as for me, I could take it or leave it these days. Mar 16, 2016View
3459Articlemickyarber@pikachulover you're exactly right. They were both fantastic IN RING story tellers. They knew how to read and respond to an audience. And another thing they had in common with all of the other one on one matchups on my list....they were well defined characters. You knew what there motivations were, you knew who THEY were. You cared about one or the other or both for a reason. That is sorely lacking in the product of today. Just as examples off my head....why should I care about Neville? He does some flashy moves, but what are his motivations? Who is he? Other than him being a wrestler with a few flashy moves, what is there about him that I should be able to relate to? There is not any time given anymore to character depth and development. My Favorite WrestleMania Matches of All TimeMar 16, 2016View
3466Articlemickyarber@crow I loved the build up to that one. The whole "she was mine before she was yours" story line was great. @massreality I too really enjoyed the lead up to 14, and the show itself. That was a fun time to be a fan.My Favorite WrestleMania Matches of All TimeMar 18, 2016View

3562ArticlemickyarberHoly crap man. Your article last year struck a nerve with me, and now you bust out this Christmas classic. I know it may have been years ago, but I'm sitting here today feeling so sorry for your bother. This is a really good tale, and the pictures you chose are spot on. Nice work. As a side note, I remember a radio station running a contest back in '99 for a new Toyota. They had all kinds of entries, but it turned out all they were giving away was a "toy Yoda" as a tie in to the new Star Wars movie. There were a lot of angry people who claimed false advertising. It wasn't pretty.Christmas ConundrumDec 12, 2016View
3563ArticlemickyarberFirst off, I too was a huge Gobots fan, and took a lot of flak from my friends because they all thought Transformers were cooler. Secondly, I absolutely love those old pictures of your Christmas. I'm such a sucker for old family Christmas pics, and these really hit the spot. Third, being around that age and getting a camera is something really special isn't it? In 1988, I got a video recorder that used a special kind of cassette tape, and you could hook it up to the tv and play back whatever you recorded. Awesome sauce! Great Christmas memories in this one, and so glad you shared it and those awesome pictures.Christmas 1985 Through My Gobots Camera LensDec 12, 2016View
3564ArticlemickyarberI had a very similar experience (without the divorce) when I got my Super Nintendo for Christmas one year. I begged for it for months, and on Christmas morning, I opened an SNES game first. My parents played it off, saying it was a mistake and it was for my brother. (He already had and SNES since he was working). But at the end of the morning, there was the SNES in the last package. I seem to recall having a very similar, if not the exact same, remote controlled fighter jet once upon a time too. But good read, and you really triggered some old memories for me.A Very Sega ChristmasDec 12, 2016View
3582ArticlemickyarberYeah, it really should be all about the giving, and I have what I feel is a pretty deep appreciation for that aspect of the season now. The bottom line of this article must have gotten cut off. Where it says "Stay tuned for an article going into more detail"....it should read "Stay tuned for an article going into more detail about all of those presents of 1986." Weird.1986: The Year That Santa Became RealDec 15, 2016View
3585Articlemickyarber@vkimo thanks for the compliment on the formatting. I put some time into the pics. And yes, my old man really is the genuine article. You could ask him about this stuff now, and he'd just brush it off. Hate to hear that you missed out on these awesome toys of the 80s. I just can't imagine there will be anything that could ever top G.I. Joe for versatile fun.1986: The Year That Santa Became RealDec 15, 2016View
