2469ArticlemassrealityThe Karate Kid and JCVD inspired me at a very young age to take up martial arts. I started in Tae Kwon Do and really loved it. My mom decided to start taking alongside me since she had to sit through the classes anyway. It sort of became an obsession for her, and we started going every single night until I finally just refused to go anymore. She ended up getting a job with the school and fifteen years later, she opened up her own school that she still operates to this day. As an adult, I took Krav Maga for a couple years, but after a few injuries I decided it truly wasn't worth it. It's a lot cheaper and easier to go take a conceal carry class and buy a cheap handgun. :) Aug 06, 2015View
2474ArticleHoju Koolander@massreality Wow, that's a great twist. Your Mom became the martial arts master. That's so cool. The Karate Class KidAug 07, 2015View
2484ArticleVaporman87Wouldn't it have been fun to brag to other kids about how your mom could kick their mom's butt, knowing she had the skills to back that up. LOL. "My mom is a black belt in Karate... she could whip your mom's butt!" "Oh yeah! Well my mom is an alien with super powers. She could melt your mom's face!" "Seriously... my mom is a black belt." "Oh yeah, well... I bet she cooks bad. Yeah."The Karate Class KidAug 07, 2015View

2421ArticleHoju KoolanderI remeber catchin a few episodes of Sailor Moon on KCOP channel 13 before school, but besides the transformation sequences it didn't quite hook me. I do recall that my buddy had a couple of the original Japanese movies or episodes without dubbing on VHS. Those ones seemed so much more serious than the dumbed down American version. Does anybody else see the Sabrina, The Teenage Witch parallels with teenage girl dealing with her powers and a talking cat?Sailor Moon VideosJul 24, 2015View
2422Articlepikachulover@Hoju You are right. Fun Fact: The Sailor Moon ice cream bar design was recycled a few years later for the Sabrina the Teenage witch ice cream. http://henshingrid.blogspot.com/2010/02/face-ice-cream.htmlSailor Moon VideosJul 25, 2015View

2411ArticleVaporman87Konami getting plenty of love from you in these lists Mickey. Rightfully so. Contra, Castlevania... they're true classics. Can't speak for Carmen SanDiego, but it must not have been too bad to make your list. I can remember being at my grandmother's house playing the NES with my cousin who was living there at the time. Using the extra life code and the both of us blasting our way through the baddies. Good times, those. I'm surprised Contra didn't resonate through the decades in the same way that games like Metal Gear did. Perhaps one day a new Contra series will take things to a whole new level and revive interest in it's history. Yesterdays: MY Favorite Nintendo Games Part 2Jul 21, 2015View
2408ArticleVaporman87Ring King, Castlevania 2, Excitebike, and even Defender of the Crown... I owned all of these titles at one time, and all were great. I had all but forgotten the fun of Ring King. It was a different game altogether than Punch Out, and that made it a new and fun experience. It was nice to read about how Tetris brought you and your father together enjoying the same thing. That can make even a boring game much more meaningful and memorable, yet Tetris was a top tier title. I was never able to get my dad to try games either. That is something I swore I wouldn't do as a dad... turn down offers from my children to enjoy things they enjoy. Yesterdays: MY Favorite Nintendo Games Part 1Jul 17, 2015View
