| 1848 | Article | MissM | @Vaporman, thank you for the tip with the blow dryer! I have heard that tip before but I have always been scared to try it for fear of melting the paint or whatever. I am going to try it though and see how it works! That's also cool that you got a MOC Roboto too. I did get a lot of the new MOTUC figures as well this year. That's a whole other discussion though. lol It was a good year for MOTUC. I also like what you had to say about MoonDreamers being like a cross between Jem and Strawberry Shortcake. There is an outrageous and wild sense of style about them. @pikachulover, that is indeed a dream tail in her hair! It came with the loose doll, I was so thrilled! I liked the dream tails on this line and the hair clip ins with Lady Lovely Locks. Popcorn Pretties are a pretty obscure line, so are the Wee Wild Things which is another line that I just love. Popcorn Pretties are similar to Cupcake dolls, except they were more compact and a little more fun. Though I do like Cupcake Dolls. I hope you are able to one day come across some of the smaller Disney Princess dolls. They are so much fun! And I agree, the Disney Princess franchise really grew out of the items from that time. And that's right! Pinkie Cooper dolls did not do so well. I forgot about those. I still see some at Toysrus but yeah, they kinda crashed and burned. @Hoju Koolander, thank you! It was a nice year for girl toys for sure. I loved the other figures from that wave with Irma too! It was so nice to see them made, even if it was at the end and I could never really find them at the time. And thanks for the comment on the Pizzazz costume. I had (and still do) the Pound Puppies, Hugga Bunch, Pillow People, a Hulk Hogan Wrestling Buddy that I had the biggest crush on. I of course had a Popple and a slew of Care Bears. I loved Pillow People though. I have the cloud one. I also have a studded animal that is like an alphabet creature, where the letters are also part creature. Also, the Wuzzles were some important plushes. This was one amazing article. I've been meaning to comment on it for awhile, but things just get so hectic and busy. | 2084 | Article | MissM | I loved it when Kenner would do that! Their Ripley figure from the Alien toy line would get reused again for the Karen figure from the Congo toy line. I remember just being mind blown when that happened. I hadn't realized that parts would be reused for different toy lines. Obviously parts reuse made sense in the same toy line, but it was always a fun surprise. I loved the Beetlejuice toy line, I had so many of these. I still do for the most part. Beetlejuice was big business back then. I am with you though, it always bugged me that there was never a Lydia figure. She was one of the most integral characters on the show! lol Just crazy. Your mention of the booklets and images of other products was exciting for me too. | 2206 | Article | MissM | @EISXUOIS you totally brought up a character that I had forgotten about! But I do agree, I was really upset when Nei died in Phantasy Star 2 as well! I always show a lot of love for Final Fantasy but I also loved playing Phantasy Star games, which are in many ways far more challenging. I didn't play PS2 until I was a little older. I actually played the 4th one first and then revisited the earlier ones as a teen and I didn't actually beat the second Phantasy until some time in my twenties? It was just a very challenging game. I still get chills thinking about being in a dungeon and knowing I won't make it out alive. And thank you for enjoying reading my experiences! I have a lot. lol @Hoju Koolander, I am so thrilled that I am not the only one that thought Samus was simply named Metroid. lol It just made the most sense. I blame the self titled games like Pac Man and Mario for this thought process. lol And there were a few things spoiled for me by Nintendo Power, but how I loved pouring through those issues! @Vaporman87 I can somewhat relate about being shocked by hearing the sound of a voice coming from a game. I think something like that as well as the animated scenes that would come in later on, I remember just being thrown for a loop at how much video games were changing with later systems in the mid 90's or so. The water stage and those bombs still gives me nightmares. I did love the arcade game thought. My first figure was April O'Neil. I remember doing really well on my grades in school and my mom was like, "We can go to the store and find an April figure for you." I loved the Turtles, but I always made sure to collect every version of April possible, and did they ever make some random off the wall April figures. It was hard not to be caught up in the phenomenon of the Turtles at that time. Or really any other time. The cool thing about this property over pretty much most properties from that time is that it has still managed to be a hit with every new version. Personally my favorites are the Christmas Vacation tree and the tree from a Charlie Brown Christmas. Both really great trees and stories. I am fond of the Gremlins tree. I also remember being traumatized with the Simpsons episode where Bart burns down the tree, I just had these horror visions of catching trees on fire. I don't know if you can tell in the picture, but her legs have splotchy coloring on them. Other than that she is in great condition. @Vaporman87- Wasn't it so cool back in the day how Playmates would make so many different toy lines and they all fit together? You are right, Toxie would have fit in perfectly with a TMNT line. I miss those toy lines. And thank you, I was really excited to find these items throughout the past year. | 3290 | Article | MissM | @HojuKoolander I have a very eclectic taste in collecting. It's both a blessing and a curse. lol The Playskool People are so perfect for capturing the look of the times! That is such a great feel about it. I love that. R Rated toy lines are such a fascination, because I don't know that it would ever happen again like that. There was something really special about that time for toys. Now the R Rated stuff is just marketed for collectors. I'm really glad I was young during that toy collecting time. My dad was only mildly interested in collecting. He wanted to find the stuff that I was looking for, and he'd play with me for a little bit, but then he'd lose interest. lol It's an interesting thing. For example when Nintendo came out, he got one for us all to play. My mom and him actually played Mario, Duck Hunt, and Jaws for awhile, but once they got bored with it they never played a video game again. It's just interesting.
