3289 | Article | DirtyD79 | Me and my bro had bunkbeds too. Our mom got them because they reminded her of the Berenstein Bears or something like that. We also had a folding ladder which we just about never used. One of the things I'd do with the bunk bed is pretend I'm working on a car that's up on the lift at a shop. I probably drove my parents nuts by tapping on it with a little wooden hammer. When me and my bro outgrew them we ended up giving them to a couple of our younger cousins. | Jan 22, 2016
3309 | Article | massreality | My brother and I had a bunk bed that was pretty cool. It was wooden, and didn't have that colorful look like the images of the ones above, but you could actually unstack the beds into single twin beds. So, when we got older, my dad was able to provide us each with our own beds for our rooms. Still, I would have traded in my bunk beds for a race car bed any day of the week. I wanted one of them so bad. | Bunk Beds | Feb 03, 2016
3342 | Article | Hoju Koolander | @DirtyD79 That car mechanic role play sounds awesome, I never would have come up with that as a kid. | Bunk Beds | Feb 10, 2016
3533 | Article | DirtyD79 | @Hoju Koolander My father's an auto body technician so I probably got the idea from watching him working on cars. I also remember we had this plastic set of toy tools and me and my bro liked to use the saw on this one old wooden table because it made some neat sounds like "oi oo oi oo" Maybe it's not so much I was RPing as my own dad as much as me and my bro were some really destructive little brats as kids lol. | Bunk Beds | Apr 30, 2016
3279 | Article | pikachulover | I didn't pick up any vintage toys this year. Good thing you got a Lady Lovelylocks with an intact head. Those dolls seem to have head and neck problems. | Miss M's Top 10 Retro Toys of 2015! | Jan 19, 2016
3280 | Article | Vaporman87 | Speaking of TMNT figures, that Toxie looks like he would have fit right in with the turtles line. Then again, Playmates made both lines, so that makes sense. Great 2015 haul Miss M. Congrats on adding some fun stuff to your ever-growing collection. | Miss M's Top 10 Retro Toys of 2015! | Jan 19, 2016
3287 | Article | MissM | @pikachulover- Tell me about it! Lady Lovelylocks are so hard to find in decent condition. I don't know if you can tell in the picture, but her legs have splotchy coloring on them. Other than that she is in great condition. @Vaporman87- Wasn't it so cool back in the day how Playmates would make so many different toy lines and they all fit together? You are right, Toxie would have fit in perfectly with a TMNT line. I miss those toy lines. And thank you, I was really excited to find these items throughout the past year. Hope you two have both been doing well! | Miss M's Top 10 Retro Toys of 2015! | Jan 20, 2016
3288 | Article | Hoju Koolander | What a varied list, this was awesome. Those Playskool People are such time capsule figures, seeing as they were created to represent the "contemporary" look of everyday people from that era. I too have long been amazed by R-Rated toy lines like Terminator 2, Demolition Man, Predator and Rambo. The basic attitude of the day seemed to be, "If it looks cool, mold it in plastic for the kids". That was a great story about your Miss Elizabeth figure. My Dad was also involved in a lot of my collecting during childhood, though it was most definitely not his thing. | Miss M's Top 10 Retro Toys of 2015! | Jan 20, 2016
3290 | Article | MissM | @HojuKoolander I have a very eclectic taste in collecting. It's both a blessing and a curse. lol The Playskool People are so perfect for capturing the look of the times! That is such a great feel about it. I love that. R Rated toy lines are such a fascination, because I don't know that it would ever happen again like that. There was something really special about that time for toys. Now the R Rated stuff is just marketed for collectors. I'm really glad I was young during that toy collecting time. My dad was only mildly interested in collecting. He wanted to find the stuff that I was looking for, and he'd play with me for a little bit, but then he'd lose interest. lol It's an interesting thing. For example when Nintendo came out, he got one for us all to play. My mom and him actually played Mario, Duck Hunt, and Jaws for awhile, but once they got bored with it they never played a video game again. It's just interesting. I can't think of ever giving up playing a video game in some capacity. lol Anyways, hope all is going well! | Miss M's Top 10 Retro Toys of 2015! | Jan 22, 2016
3255 | Article | Vaporman87 | It looks like these guys have really tapped into the Ghostbusters mythos and created a fantastic game. I would have liked to have seen a few more anonymous Ghostbusters added to the mix, for those who don't want to just play as the original four. Thanks for the info Drak. | Who you gonna call ...US | Jan 09, 2016 |
