2574 | Article | munkysrench | I was definitely impressed with the Dark Knight series with Bale as Wayne. Especially when they brought Bane in the last one and summarized the Knightfall comic series. It pissed me of when a lot of non-readers bashed it hard without even knowing the story line in the comics, when I thought it was done very well. Another series I'd suggest is the Batman | Aug 28, 2015
5635 | Article | Mr Magic | I was first introduced to the wonderful world of Sonic at a friend's house in 1993. He had Sonic 2 and we played it all night long while the adults were talking somewhere. Then a year later, on my birthday, my parents took a surprise present out of the closet. And what was it? A Sega Genesis system and it came with Sonic 2! You could imagine my reaction. I was like a kid at Christmastime. Since then, I played the heck outta Sonic 2 and other games as well. Good 5imes! | Why I Love Classic Sonic | May 03, 2022
4402 | Article | Superman | I was first introduced to this song while in college. It always struck me as strange that such an upbeat sounding song had such a sad meaning behind it. It kind of reminds me of one of my favorite singers of the '60s, Bobby Darin, who always sounded so happy as he sang about topics like murder and death. | Nena's 99 Luftballons German & English Translations | Jun 08, 2018
2438 | Article | jkatz | I was going to say this reminds me a lot of Talespin. But I love pulp adventures and this one seems as good as any. Was the show's budget big enough to have dogfights like the ad implies? | A Look Back at Tales of the Gold Monkey | Aug 01, 2015
953 | Article | Vaporman87 | I was happy to see (or smell that is) that Stinkor for the Classics line was also scented with that familiar foul aroma. I would say, with regard to toys in general that scared me, I did have a tremendous fear of ventriloquist dummies. I had seen parts or the movie, "Magic", starring Anthony Hopkins. That did it for for me. And then seeing "Poltergeist" didn't help either. As far as toys that I myself owned, I once had a 4 or 5 foot tall gorilla that stood on all fours. It was an awesome toy. I personally never feared it as it stood beside my bed. But my friends who would stay the night didn't feel the same way. Most of them hated the thing. LOL. Thanks again Miss M. | The Fear of Toys | Jan 24, 2014
4140 | Article | DirtyD79 | I was in college back then. I was asleep when it happened since it was my day off. My mom woke me up telling me I should come out and check out the news. That's how I found out about it. | Where Were You That September Day? | Sep 21, 2017
3751 | Article | Lazlo | I was in my own little world in the mid 90s, and just not into popular culture. After reading this, I just have to check out The Head and The Maxx . . . I'll look it up on Youtube and see if there are DVD sets out there. Both seem right up my alley, all weird and trippy. | MTV: The 90's | Feb 13, 2017
1578 | Article | Vaporman87 | I was in my second year of college when this game first hit home consoles. I was fairly excited about it, though MK was never a favorite of mine. But when things really turned ugly and we had government stepping in to try and censor games, I got a little more interested in not just the game, but how it was being received. There is an article by raptor that covers a little bit of that episode. I enjoyed both versions for home consoles (the SNES and Genesis). For me however, I took my anger at some magazines, namely Electronic Gaming Monthly, to a whole other level. I too was seeing some editor bias in those days, and I was going to make my thoughts heard to these people. So one of my roommates and I typed up a 7 page letter and sent it to EGM. I still have a copy of that letter. It's hilarious to read now (thinking that such a thing would matter at all in life). But I guess we all were a little passionate about stupid things in our youth. As for my favorite character, I was always a Sub Zero/Scorpion fan. | Mortal Kombat Memories | Dec 09, 2014
4112 | Article | Rick Ace Rhodes | I was in school when it happened. First grade at the time. Barely even into the school year at that point. We had art class that morning. I don't know if we were forced to leave art class early or if we just left at the standard time, but it was after art class that everything went wrong. As we were walking back to class, the vice principal was walking down the hall and told us "Code Red". Our teacher informed us that this wasn't a drill and that it was serious. As we were walking by the door that was the entrance to the school, I saw my mother among a swarm of parents signing out their kids to bring them home early. After sitting in the classroom for a few minutes, I was pulled out by mother and taken home. After being home for a few minutes, my father arrived home cursing and shouting at the TV. I don't really remember the rest of the day. The weeks that followed I do remember. It was a pretty emotional time, especially for my town. I came from a town that had a lot of first responders to the attack. To add to the sad climate, a girl who was in my class lost her father in the attacks. Everyday we wore flag pins to school to show our support. Even as a young kid it was impossible to be shielded from what happened. In some way I guess I'm glad that I and my fellow classmates were so young at the time. We didn't have to experience the horror like many others here on Retro Daze had to as young adults or even teenagers in High School. | Where Were You That September Day? | Sep 11, 2017
