Article | kidcoffee | I'm happy to report that on the trip home, true to her word, my mother purchased me my very first Atari. There were very strict rules about its use ie only on weekends and I had to prove my homework was done, but otherwise I was now free to game. We were free to game I should say as both of my parents got in on the action with me. I don't remember a time I've seen my father so happy as when he was playing Pac-Man. He wasn't very good at it, but man he loved to play. As for my mother's aversion I did ask. She blames an article in Woman's Day which stated that video games are responsible for tearing apart families. I'm not sure I buy it especially seeing that my mother never read Woman's Day, but thankfully her hatred was short lived. As for the Greeks, I know. That's all I'll say about that. Overall it was one of the most memorable Christmases I've ever had. Well actually there was one other, but I'll save that one for next year. One last aside, I forgot to add in that I also illustrated my my cover photo. Not a big deal, but I did want to mention it. Anyway thank you for the kind words!!! | Dec 10, 2015 | ![]() |
Article | echidna64 | Nice article! A video game marathon is a great way to take advantage of all the free time. When everyone is home for a holiday my brothers and I usually do a 24-hour LAN party. However, you might have sparked a new controversy this contest- is it retro? | The Post-Christmas Video Game Marathon | Dec 10, 2015 | ![]()
Article | Vaporman87 | That was awesome. Great story, MarshMellow. Welcome to RD, by the way. This was a joy to read. Really well written and fun the whole way through. I can't imagine what that final "boom" must have been like. I think I would have stuck to eating Special Dark bars with my Squiggle Wiggle tattooed hands while playing the Nintendo from a previous year after that. | Expl-ho-ho-ho-sion | Dec 10, 2015 | ![]()
Article | Vaporman87 | Yes! What a great memory to have. Such a great story. Isn't it amazing how something so trivial can mean the difference between happiness and sorrow? What was it that made your mother so "anti-gaming"? Was she devoutly religious, or just wary of "newfangled" things? Did you end up getting that Atari 2600? If so, how did that go over in the weeks and months following? Why do Greeks think they're all that? LOL (Not a real question) Thanks for sharing this Kid C. It was stellar. | Perfect Game | Dec 10, 2015 | ![]()

Article | Vaporman87 | Another good one, Nlogan. Forgot about The Corey delivering in a costume. LOL | 5 Most Iconic Movie Christmas Trees | Dec 08, 2015 | ![]()
Article | NLogan | One to remember is the Christmas tree from Gremlins. Bought from a tree lot and delivered by Corey Feldman in a Christmas tree costume to the house, it became the hiding place for a gremlin that nearly kills Billy's mother strangling her with tinsel. <img src="http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/gremlins/images/2/21/Christmas_Tree_Gremlin.JPG/revision/latest?cb=20120121035453"> | 5 Most Iconic Movie Christmas Trees | Dec 08, 2015 | ![]()
Article | pikachulover | My dad was all about the gaudy trees. So when they made fun of those in the movies it reminded me of my dad. The Griswold tree had a lot of problems and Snot the dog was drinking the tree water. | 5 Most Iconic Movie Christmas Trees | Dec 08, 2015 | ![]()
Article | Poshy2005 | Very nice list and some great picks. Hard to believe I grew up watching these women on TV. | The Hottest Women of the 90s...Then and Now! | Dec 07, 2015 | ![]()
Article | Vaporman87 | Motorized jeeps, Super NES, Playstation... oh my! These are all really great choices. My own personal favorites through the years included the original NES, as well as an ATV... both in the same year. That was probably one of the greatest ever Christmases as far as gifts were concerned. I also really loved the year my step-brother (from one of my mom's marriages) and I received ninja outfits (not the cheap costume kind, but the kind you could order though Martial Arts magazines). | Retro Christmas Presents | Dec 07, 2015 | ![]()
