4141ArticleDirtyD79Me and my brother went through the ninja phase too. I remember when we were teenagers we got some swords and knives at this one flea market up the street from us. I also remember for Halloween in 5th grade I dressed up as a ninja. I also wanted to take some karate classes but my parents never got around to signing me up. Eventually I became more interested in cars and model building instead. Sep 21, 2017View
2707ArticleCaps 2.0Me and my brother still have a laser pointer that we use for our cats. It's fun to play with them that way. As for fanny packs, I still regularly use them when I go on major trips, like whenever we go to Walt Disney World. I also wore one to Chiller Theatre last year, and I'll be wearing it when I attend again this year as well. I do what I feel most comfortable with. For example, it's why I still refer to things as cool when most everybody else is now saying chill instead.5 Fads of the 90'sSep 22, 2015View
3289ArticleDirtyD79Me and my bro had bunkbeds too. Our mom got them because they reminded her of the Berenstein Bears or something like that. We also had a folding ladder which we just about never used. One of the things I'd do with the bunk bed is pretend I'm working on a car that's up on the lift at a shop. I probably drove my parents nuts by tapping on it with a little wooden hammer. When me and my bro outgrew them we ended up giving them to a couple of our younger cousins. Bunk BedsJan 22, 2016View
5328ArticleJulieMe and especially my mom felt really good in the fall. It's our favorite season. The mists and cold of autumn are very reminiscent of Holland, the country my mom descends from, which is why she feels so good and likes autumn so much. And I feel an indescribable sense of peace and belonging. Reading your touching article makes me want to have you as my childhood friend back then. I would have been a much happier child for sure. Thank you for your always well written articles, privileged vocabulary and exciting text. I love you. ❤The prelude to AutumnNov 09, 2020View

1978ArticleNLoganMaybe we are so nostalgic because we needed toys and comic books to get through tough times. My parents are also divorced. I lived with my mom in apartment after apartment and went from school to school. I was perpetually the new kid. Now I always had my twin brother to play with but I was also jealous of those kids with the best friends they had known all of their lives. I had plenty of friends but never the life long kind. Three elementary schools, 3 Jr. Highs, and a high school later I relied heavily on my possessions that always came with me. I regret a few things that I did directed towards others as a kid. Being a new kid and a runt I had my share of being picked on, but we also knew well how to fight having ample opportunity. I had a fairly violent childhood. There was also two of us to tangle with and we weren't above blindsiding and dirty fighting. What did it matter we would probably be moving soon anyways. This article more than anything brings perspective on the changes now that we are adults and what we want our children to experience as they grow. Being The Fat KidFeb 12, 2015View
1170VideoVaporman87Maybe in this day and age that drink is too small to be medium, but back then it was pretty standard I think. Today we think mediums should be 32 ounces. LOL1986 Taco Bell AdJul 14, 2014View
