5265 | Article | onipar | Mr. Magic, ah that's too bad. It was a little different than your standard slime...almost like the lovechild of slime and silly putty. Vaporman, the slime pit! I still love the gross out toys and games. I have a couple Dr Dreadful sets and creepy crawlers setups in my closet right now. | Sep 04, 2020

3154 | Article | Vaporman87 | Motorized jeeps, Super NES, Playstation... oh my! These are all really great choices. My own personal favorites through the years included the original NES, as well as an ATV... both in the same year. That was probably one of the greatest ever Christmases as far as gifts were concerned. I also really loved the year my step-brother (from one of my mom's marriages) and I received ninja outfits (not the cheap costume kind, but the kind you could order though Martial Arts magazines). | Retro Christmas Presents | Dec 07, 2015
1862 | Article | Hoju Koolander | Most people run into those types of "Modeling Schools" at malls from what I hear. It's so weird that the school sanctioned such an obvious cash-grab. Do you remember those TV ads that ran on daytime TV for the Barbizon School of Modeling way back when? They usually came on right after a commercial for Survival auto insurance with the guys playing poker, "Are you insured?" "Yes." "By Survival?" "No." "I can't take that bet." So cheesy, cracks me up. | Model Student | Jan 30, 2015
2946 | Article | onipar | Most of those I've never heard of, but there are a couple there that I used to get and haven't thought about in YEARS! I actually used to get lemon heads all the time from my ice cream truck, and occasionally would get the melon one and the apple one. They were definitely rarer. I'm not sure I ever had the melody pop with a moving stick, but I definitely had whistle pops! | 4 Rare Retro Candies | Oct 15, 2015
4772 | Article | bluegrassbaby86 | Most of the plushies I was attached to were not affiliated with a character. I didn't really watch cartoons as much as a little kid due to having no eyesight and most of the shows were hard for me to follow because you couldn't figure out what was happening just from hearing them, so if I did have a character, he wasn't played with as the character, just a plushie. My absolute favorite toy was a teddy bear that would record your voice and repeat it back to you. I did have what they told me was called Pillow Pals, which I guess are the same as Pillow People, and I had a Popple, but I didn't know he turned into an animal and I just played with him as a fuzzy ball. I miss my Popple. | Stuffed Animals of the 80's | Jan 05, 2019
5201 | Article | Julie | Most of the animes I watched were from Hanna-Barbera, also going through Topo Gigio, Barbapapa, Sesame Street among others from the 70s and 80s, such as Thundercats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, He-Man and She-Ra, the fabulous Dungeons & Dragons, among many, many others. In 1989 I had my first Atari 2600, so the TV lost about 70% of the space it occupied in my leisure time. But when the Sega Genesis came home in 1991 (at the same time as the Power Rangers boom), I completely stopped watching TV and so I continue to this day. But Benjanime is introducing me to some gems that I lost along the way. He's great! ;) ❤ | Making the anime nerd transition | May 14, 2020

1874 | Article | Vaporman87 | Most of my life was spent BEING the older kid. In my neighborhood, I was the oldest of the kids that spent evenings together playing. Sure, there were older kids than me living there, but they didn't often associate with us. I'm guessing I was probably the same type of kid you describe here as well. I had a lot of cool stuff (I'm not blind to the fact that I had a lot of stuff as a kid) and we had a tree house, large yard, tons of concrete with a basketball hoop, and all the inside goodies too. Truth be told though, I preferred being the "visitor" as opposed to being the "visited". Unlike most kids, I didn't enjoy being the kid that other kids were jealous of. I liked visiting the houses of others and being in their element. I felt welcomed and appreciated there, whereas at home, I might tend to feel used. | The Older Kid | Feb 02, 2015
1697 | Article | Vaporman87 | Most generally my stocking was full of things that were not good for my health. There wasn't much in the way of toys in my stockings. Now that I'm a father/husband, my wife knows that no matter what she puts in there, there is one thing that is an absolute must every year... the Storybook candy box. Whether it be LifeSavers, Starburst, or some other brand, a Storybook box BETTER be in there, or watch out. | Stocking Stuffers | Dec 19, 2014 |
