3881ArticleLazloechidna64- Now everybody is at least part nerd, because everybody (or just about) is into computers. Some because they enjoy using computers. And some because computers are everywhere and have no choice! LOL May 06, 2017View
3880Articleechidna64I remember even in the early 90's people would say that only nerds played video games, joke's on them now!The 1980s: When Nerds Became CoolMay 06, 2017View
3879ArticlejkatzBorn in 93 here, and I agree-Harry Potter is definitely our generation's Star Wars. The first two movies are my favorite too. Maybe it's because I was at the right age when I first watched them, but to me they have a certain "something" that the later installments just didn't.Harry Potter: A beginning of a new loveMay 04, 2017View
3878ArticleHoju KoolanderDitto for me on The Monster at the End of This Book, between that and his Super Grover persona, it's no wonder the little blue guy was my favorite character on Sesame Street. I had totally forgotten about Caps For Sale, that was a great one.My favorite children's books growing upMay 04, 2017View
3877ArticleLazloI think it was an important moment, if you were like me growing up (and as an adult). I was the bookworm who spent a lot of time at the library, with an interest in nerdy stuff like history. I think these '80s nerd flicks, as campy and comical as they are on the surface, actually had a deeper message. It was about appreciating being nerdy and being into knowledge, and not being ashamed of it . . . and having fun with it too. Real Genius is still one of my fave flicks. The 1980s: When Nerds Became CoolMay 04, 2017View
3876ArticleBenjanimemy parents are into the series a lot more than i am to be honest, i'd been more of a lord of the rings guy. i dunno, i mean i enjoyed reading the books and watching the movie adaptations but i never got into it. still this was a fairly enjoyable read and i liked hearing about your fascination about the series. 3875ArticleCyrogenicOf the all the books on this list, I've remember reading Just Go to Bed, Miss Nelson is Missing, and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. I loved reading If You Give a Mouse a Cookie the most. Miss Nelson's fake substitute teacher creeped me the most, LOL.My favorite children's books growing upMay 03, 2017View
3872ArticleVaporman87The Monster At The End of This Book was a favorite of mine as well. They reworked it for mobile devices and it's actually very cool. My kids loved it... for a time. My favorite children's books growing upMay 02, 2017View
3871ArticleVaporman87It's fun to see how far the evolution of Nerd acceptance has come from the '80s to now. But it certainly does have it's roots in '80s cinema and the effects of that on our culture. The 1980s: When Nerds Became CoolMay 02, 2017View
