2475 | Article | kstrom22 | heh "dig," I get it... Thank you. My brother and I also used to road over abandoned and overgrown areas of my hometown. Now that I'm a history teacher I can go on a treasure hunt with a whole new generation, it's great! One of my students actually asked me if I'd ever heard of "The Goonies!" | Aug 07, 2015
2476 | Article | kstrom22 | This is a classic conundrum, while I can't in good conscience these days condone cheating, it does break the child's heart within me that our current crop of kids weren't raised on the classic cheat games like Candy Land. I heard they introduced a spinner! Truly the end of a cheat-era. | Cheatin' | Aug 07, 2015
2477 | Article | kstrom22 | I'm so glad to see my own experiences were shared by others from different times and places. And so grateful at the response to my own little slice of history. Now I live in Arizona: no real "trees" around here for tree-houses, but I'm too lazy to build one anyway. There is a new playground right across the street; it has a tower, tunnels, a true modern castle. Someday, if I have kids, they'll be the kings and queens. | Castles of Yesteryear | Aug 07, 2015
2488 | Article | kstrom22 | I love this article, and I love the (remaining) true and old arcades. The one nearest my house has what I can only describe as an SNES store demo. You can play either Super Mario World, The Addams Family, or F-Zero. It's killer. It seems like all Arcades have that same "dizzy patterned carpet," why do you think that is? Here's a possibly controversial question, which are better, token-exchange machines, or quarter change-maker machines? My brother and I were always on different sides of the debate... | The Mall Arcade | Aug 08, 2015
2527 | Article | kstrom22 | Stewart Copeland also had a hand in another beloved franchise, though this was video games: he did the music for the original Spyro the Dragon Trilogy. I love how descriptive Japanese titles can be. The Japanese title for "Despicable Me" is "Mysterious Thief Gru’s Moon Theft," and the title of "Being John Malkovich" is "John Malkovich's Hole"...errr Fun article, I love learning about things from my time and earlier. | Little Known Facts About 25 of Your Favorite 80's Cartoons! | Aug 16, 2015
1034 | Article | jrotunda | Nice read, good information! I played this game back in '96 before all the other games could sink their hooks - it always stayed with me through the years. It has the most diehard community of any online game I've seen (self included) and pretty intense pvp - always fascinated and kept me going on that aspect. Thanks for mentioning it's still around and free to play! | Meridian 59 Remembered | Mar 06, 2014
1029 | Article | mickyarber | I also added a few things to this version of the article as an exclusive for RetroDaze. Didn't want to do just a straight repost. | Yesterdays 1: Foods Long Gone | Mar 05, 2014
1035 | Article | mickyarber | Good idea for an article, and well written. The Worst list, I fully agree. Slight rearrangement of the Best items for my personal taste, but the list as a whole I agree with. While I personally like the taste of the candy cigarettes, it's poor form to give them to kids. Good stuff. | Top 5 Best and Worst things to get in... | Mar 07, 2014
2350 | Article | mickyarber | I remember all of this. THe early 90's was my wheel house when it came to comics. I shamelessly admit that I was part of the speculator boom, lol. I loved all the Ultraverse titles and was a big fan of being on board with a new universe that I thought was going to last. :( The Ray was a good title with Quesada on board in the early issues. I had that first issue of Nightwatch, but never read it. I bought it specifically for the speculator aspect. Good read. | Five Forgotten Comic Heroes of the 90's | Jul 05, 2015
2356 | Article | mickyarber | I remember watching the Trinity movies right after VCRs became popular. My uncle (who was my neighbor) had a VCR, and when the first video store opened in out little town, he was renting a movie every other day or so. My cousin and I watched them during the long summer days with him, and Trinity movies were some we watched that summer. I thought they were good then, but have not watched them since. I'll have to give them another look now. Thanks for the reminder. Good article choice. | They Called Him Trinity | Jul 06, 2015 |
